    Wear areas on the sides of the shift forks look worn out and should be replaced. Also you need to take the gear clusters apart to check the syncros which you'll probably also find in need of replacement.JMO

    Other than staying away from the aluminum 833, 500/500 shouldn't be a problem. I stomped the crap out of a couple over the years with 600+HP BB's in B Bodies and didn't break em, I did however grenade a few clutches so don't forget the shatter shield unless you don't mind loosing some toes.:-D

    That's exactly what I'm saying, the OD unit was not built to the numbers of the standard 833 and I know of 2 people right now looking for one (well one for sure) up here BTW, shipping cost sucks. B Body guys love them.

    Put it in forth gear and turn the input shaft 1 turn and the output shaft should turn approx. 1 and 1/4 turns for an Overdrive. Then you'll know for sure.

    If you're doing 4 grand at 60, figureing a little converter slippage, I'm guessing that you've got 4.55 or 56 gears. If you're doing mostly highway driving and have 14" tires then I'd highly recommend 3.23 gears. You could purchase a center section (pumpkin) with 3.23 gears allready installed...

    I had that same package in a 69 super B and if no one has changed the tranny, for some obscure reason, it will be an 18 spline. I had the same 9 3/4 Dana but I did add dual 4's, headers and a wild cam. it was a hoot but the front drum brakes sucked. Terry
