    Edelbrock Rpm heads on 360

I just installed a set of 60779's on my 360 and tried using stamped steel rockers. They hit the valve spring retainers.Luckily I had a set of 273 rockers lying around.

    aluminum head,intake torque spec

I'm trying to button up edelbrock head swap but don't trust torque spec in manual of 35 fts,I went up to 25fts,but am afraid of stripping out intake holes in heads.I already broke a rocker shaft bolt due to wrong specs.on my old heads.

Adjustable PCV and oil catch devices?

I compared my home depot separator to my friends Steeda that he has on his GT500 and could find no differences other than I had to make my own bracket,at least mine has brass barb fittings not plastic. So I have to disagree that it doesn't belong.I do agree that it doesn't have enough capacity,it...

Adjustable PCV and oil catch devices?

I have a blown mustang that I run an Ebay catch can with a homedepot compressor air water seperator before it goes into the intake and it works great.Mustangs had a problem even with out a blower with pcv valve in back of intake drawing in oil.Set up is a lot cheaper than 150 bucks. If you only...

    Old alum intake cleaning??

I painted my intake on my dart, i'm getting lazy.I use purple power on my Mustangs natural cobra intake, then use 1500psi pressure washer to rinse it off.Brightens/cleans it right up.Might have to scrub real bad spots with a tooth brush in the really bad spots.Always cover electrical parts.I...

    1970 headers

I put Doug's on mine.No burnt plug wires, spark plugs are easy to get to,as are header bolts. No low pipes dragging on the ground, nice heavy gauge pipes/flanges.Steering linkage doesn't run thru them. They fit great w/power steering, didn't have to ding any of the pipes for clearance.I think...

noise coming from timing chain cover

What I'm working on is a 360.rebuilt about 3yrs ago.Timing chain is new, double roller,Comp I think.I thought the noise was a lifter. The only thing I can think of that I reused was the thrust plate. The fuel pump is a Carter muscle car.I've got some medical problems so I have to fix the noise...

noise coming from timing chain cover

Great news it was the fuel pump! I see a slight mark on the arm should I notch it or try and hit it w/a hammer to clearance it?
  15. midlife89

noise coming from timing chain cover

That didn't do it going to pull fuel pump next and check the arm to see if any wear marks on it where it's hitting the timing chain.

noise coming from timing chain cover

I did run it less accessories and still made ticking noise.I'm going to try loosening the 2 lower water pump bolts since they run through the timing chain cover.Maybe hitting on chain or cam sprocket/sprocket bolts.Going out there now and try it.

noise coming from timing chain cover

At first I thought ticking noise was coming from bad lifter but I found the noise was coming from the timing chain cover by using a hose.It seems to be louder on the driver side below water pump but above crank. What do you think? Too long of bolt some where?fuel pump arm hitting timing chain?

    Another lifter noise question

I'm pretty sure I'm going to just tear it down this winter. The blood disorder I've got is terminal. They can't tell me how long I've got,5,10.15,20 yrs maybe more.Just don't know.So I'm going to live for today. Was going to stroke it but I think I'm just going to put a better set of rods in it,put...

    Another lifter noise question

the shafts are on right ,slots down.I will check how much wiggle room there is.I thought only the 273 rockers had clearance problems not the stamped rocker.I'm going to take a look at that.If all checks out I think I'm going to pull the motor and tear it apart.I keep thinking about if the cam...

    Another lifter noise question

the cam and lifters are comp xe274h,I've heard that they tend to be noisier than most, but I had the same problem w/valve noise w/a summit cam ,441/.441.I'm going to make sure all the valve stem are the same height w/a straight edge.Never tried the adjustable rockers on that cam tho.

    Another lifter noise question

I've been fighting a lifter noise since motor was rebuilt, has had 2 different cam and lift sets in it.After sitting awhile would tap loud for only 2 or 3 secs then quiet down but still tap quietly.Lifter bores where checked when block was done.I recently installed some 273 rockers and it quieted...

Ticking noise need new lifters? 360 v8

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.But yes you will need a torque wrench to not only use on the rocker shaft bolts but also on the intake bolts,as the the intake needs pulled to change the lifters.I 'd change the header gaskets first, make sure to add thread sealant to front and rear bolts as they...

    rocker shaft studs

Thats why I figured on going with grade 8.I'm using an old set of M/T valve covers so if I measure right it should be ok.I checked ARP catalog and see none listed.I guess I could tape the shims to the shaft then remove it after bolts are started

    rocker shaft studs

Does anyone know the dimensions of rocker shaft studs? I'm going to have a local shop make me a set of grade 8 ones.I'm using 273 adjustables with stock hold downs and my push rods are about .020 too long.I figured studs would make the shims easier to install.I know I should just get shorter...

How to date an AVS carb?
