Sad issue but we have all entered a time when some young folfks are abuseing this thing we call trust and scaming good people on this site for financial gains. We also have encountered some not so young folks that are realizing the economic crunch and are trying to make ends meet by doing the same scam. My suggestion to you is this. When your purchasing an item from one of the registered members here feel free to post a question to the many other members, 14000 plus, as to their knowledge of the integrity of the member you are purchasing from. No harm done. If they cant stand the pressure then a flag should go up. This should be no slam on anyone. merely an inquiry allowing one to protect their resources. You that are selling should prepare for this and expect it in these times. For instance.
" Hey guys, i'm buying a _____ from Small Block. Is he a straight shooter? Has anyone had any issues with him on purchases? His ad says he lives in______. Does anyone live close by in case i need assistance?"

This would not offend me whatsoever. There are those here that we all know and have dealt with over the years but there are those that have just showed up for whatever reason. Be very cautious in your dealings when sending money to someone that you dont know. If ever anyone has an issue with a seller in my area i'll be more that happy to assist. There are many ways to handle these issues and this is merely one of em. Heads up.

Sellers, You are more than welcome and invited to sell your parts and cars here on the site BUT dont try and come here and try and scam those that are truly in it for the hobby and not a bad relationship. Describe your part correctly. Take pics of ALL sides. If you say your gona send it out tomorrow then do so. Be sure and check with the wife and see if she'll let ya out of the house long enough to send it or make sure she dont have a luncheon with the girls that might interfer with your obligation. If your a crook, move on. The guy you rip off may have a buddy that lives down the block from you and his wife just ran off with a guy that looks like you. Your taking a big risk so take it wisely. Any questions?

100% Agreed!
Anybody buying from me feel free to ask anybody about my dealings selling and buying.
Also, my ebay name is;Whocares57.... 100% positive feedback.

Later,
Bruce B.

Maybe a verified sellers list? Maybe the purchaser can add the seller to a list or something. Just a thought

I sure wish i would have done this a couple of months ago.
The guy i sent some free parts to still hasn't paid me anything for the shipping.
Excuse after excuse....

Maybe a separate section for examples of real scams or scammers "busted" by FABO to inform members what to lookout for when a person may be a scammer. I would suggest some "clear & convincing" evidence of a scammer before we defame someone's character and learn to separate a scammer from a transaction that lacked proper communication between seller & buyer. We probably have quite a few members that live in remote locations who don't travel to swap meets or parts stores and rely on the internet as a matter of neccessity and/or convienence.

Bill, great post. I hope everyone I've sold parts to are happy. My ebay rating is 100 also.

Good advice,I sometimes give parts away for free,I am a very stand up guy.Just ask Daredevel.

Be sure and check with the wife and see if she'll let ya out of the house long enough to send it or make sure she dont have a luncheon with the girls that might interfer with your obligation. ....................................... LOL ....I liked that.

I hate it when there is a post on here of someone getting ripped off, especially by another member, cause sometimes you don't know the other side,,,,, and It really sucks when a member is trying to rip us off intensionally. I really really really don't like thief's..... hate is such a strong word!!
Anyway ....... well said Small Block.

Here is a suggestion to the staff. Fabo could have it's own insurance program and it could work like this. Every gold membership would have an additional fee added to it of $2.00 that would cover them, with lets say a $500.00 insurance cap, if they got ripped off. Insurance would be for gold members only. The staff should do an investigation and if determined fraud was commited, the innocent party is covered by insurance. Only then the insurance is paid and the scammer is banned for life. Just a thought. Christopher

I think each person should get like a feedback section for their sales, so just like ebay kinda, you could look at their feedback and see if they are a good seller/buyer and whatnot. And everybody else's ideas sound good. Im just tossin in my 2cents like everybody else. I hate being fleeced out of hard earned cash. And I was raised better than that too, I was taught good business as a kid, even if someone you had a problem with walks into your place of business, they are still a customer and you treat them as such and if you make an obligation, you keep it. No matter what.

Good thread Small Block :read2: FABO has a reputation of being helpful and it acts like a lure for people to try and take advantage of this site, I sold a few things here and just learned how to leave feed back  ain't yall proud of me 8)
But remember 8) I am everywhere and I am not hiding behind a false zip code and can jump on the phone to assist in the capture of anyone that scam's any of my folks here, so think twice before you get greedy :glasses9:
There are people here that are here to help others out, so with that being said 8) Ya better not scam yea better not lie because there are people like me watching you from the sky...
My services are not needed here very often because Joeychgo has a bounty of the best folks any where rounded up in one great site.

+ I love my job, it's good to be me memike 8)

Well said smallblock, it surprises me how often we seem to read about issues between seller and buyer. People out there definitely taking advantage of the good reputation of FABO and its group of great people. I have never had issues with any purchases and never any issues with sales. Thanks!

Bill, great add to SmallBlock's post. I agree 100% with all this. Also my Ebay account name is bigredneckrob. Go check it out. You'll see how I do bidness real quick. Also, any of yall have any problems around the Georgia area, if I can I'll be glad to help.

yeah its like this one member tells me hes got a 69 coronet for $500 dollars and i ask him to send me pics and iam still waiting on him for a week now does this sound like someone you know? SMALLBLOCK lol

No offence to anyone here.. But, I'm gonna keep most of my parts dealing on ebay.. Right now its a "buyers market", I've ebayed since it first started.. I've never seen performance parts go this cheap over there, I scored a new Jaz fuel cell Fast Fill Valve for a Mopar for $9.50.... Times are tough for a lot of sellers right now, so watch who y'all deal with...

As sad as it's becoming -- maybe we should have a dispute resolution thread-- then all the transactions can be tied together & read by the fabo court------ with the growth of Fabo the problems were going to arise-- bad apples are always looking for the next scam.
Thanks for a great site, Lawrence

Its sad when this happens and to the scammers:Karma will catch you quick.I was going to suggest we should just start using PayPal ,that way you can dispute if you get burned.Sending checks and money orders seems very risky nowadays.I know not everyone has PayPal,but we need better security.Just a thought

i think its a great idea and no one should take offense in asking others if someone is a straight shooter or not as for me i've never sold any thing here yet but when i do i'll be straight up with ya just as in person cause as for me i work hard for my money and when a deal comes up here and i check with the warden [ wife ] and she allows me to get it , it going sour is the last thing i want i hope everything can get fixed right as for me this place is better than ebay or craigslist

I think that's a brilliant Idea!! A piece of mind so to speak. Good one.. I think it would be even worse if a fellow Canadian like myself was expecting something coming from over the border and ended up getting ripped off.

I noticed in the sellers and wanted section there are feedback ratings, but a lot of them say 0.

Ebay at one time was also experiencing similar problems with payment tranactions, thats why they finally inforced Pay-Pal on everybody, and made most other forms of payment against their rules.
