I'm glad I found this thread. I'm doing a 65 Dart myself, and the info here is very helpful. I'm not doing a full blown restoration, however, I am aiming for a very nice driver.
 
Ya, regarding the tumbler. That's exactly why one of ours is in the shed. I ran a power cable to it so there could be a light and a place to tumble rocks! They do make some annoying noise.

That engine is looking real good. Looking forward to seeing it complete. You are definitely covering the details. Nice!
 
Today arrived the intake manifold gaskets made in cork. I got it from a FABO member that used to work for Chrysler back in the days. I am so greatful for the help.

This is one of the reasons that the FABO community is like a woldwide big family!

Well, after a couple of hours the trunk lid is done. On one side!!! What would be the easiest way to get rid of the paint on the inside?

Finally the oil pump,and the oil pan is in place. Feels good to install the cork gasket, the redone bolts and tighten them by the service manual!

Just need the small freeze plugs now........! I think they should be on the way from Canada!

Well,I better get started with the inside of the trunk lid! Talk about boring.........!

Talked with a friend of mine today. He restored a 273 awhile ago and after a while he found some dirt in the oil! He located the problem to sand and old burned oil pieces in the heat shiled under the intake manifold. So when I got home I disassembled my intake. And I found some old burned oil pieces and some sand! So tomorrow I will sandblast the rest of the intake so I can mounted it all back and put it on the engine.

Look at the twisted rivet. Never seen it before!

I added the heat shield under thge in´take manifold today. Looks like new to me. Will try to bolt the intake on Tuesday. To much work now.

I'm desperate on the smaller freeze plugs for the heads. Any out there....?

freeze plugs ???? what size ????? how many ???? and are you looking for NOS?? or replacement???

I'm looking for the small ones on the end of the heads. I will check size and get to you. They must be NOS or replacements with out any logotype, script or numbers. I get it tomorrow.
 
ok let me know a parts store near me has a lot of old style plugs in stock,, ill look and see if any markings if they have that size,, i little alll metal may hide the ingravings if you cant find what your loooking for

Added the accelerator wire bracket wiuth correct bolt. The vacuum outlet is silver cad. But the question is; was it mounted before the paint was applayed? The correct copper finish holder for the distributor is ready as well as the correct steel .

Has anyone seen these heater hoses? I need the correct hoses.

I also looking for the correct torsion bar boots. The right one is the ones with AU and figures after the part#. The repops are the one with the part# up side down!!!! How can they reproduce something that is incorrect from the beginning?

The thermostat housing needs to be glassbeaded to be ready. But I cant find my NOS gasket?? The thermostat is there in it's glory. Direct from the box!

Bolted the NOS fuel pump to the transmission cover with the right bolts. It wont feel great to paint the fuel pump. But I will be painted red as they did on the assembly line.

Anyone having info on the paint process on the fuel pump. Was the bras fitting there before the paint was added? Or just the fuel pump? I know for sure that the fuel line wasn't there!

Was the lower crank pulley painted red or black on the 273 HP engines?

I got some great stuff in the mailbox today from Arizona Parts. Now I can finish the assemble of the front brakes. They even had the small washers that goes on the adjuster between the brake shoes!!!

Started with the upper door hinges. This is the way they look before with NOS pins and new bushings.

Lastnight was fun. I got ahold of the third owner of my car. Now I have a complete story. Older pictures will be email to me. I will post them when they show up.
