People think Mopar is slow??

-
I used to get people asking if my Super Bee had a stroked 350 because of the 383 emblems on the scoops. :banghead: Morons... I cant wait to hear the stupid questions I'm gonna get from everyone when I stroke my 5.7 to 383 cu in's and have '383 Hemi' badges on my Coronet.....:thumrigh:

Wow I didn't realize I'd get so many replies with my little rant. :glasses2:

For the most part I agree with you guys, they are idiots. I was just surprised that the negativity was so strong. Oh well. They'll see soon enough. F'em :thumrigh:

Thanks for the support FABO!!

"why get rid of the rotary?"

This is a question I've also gotten quite a bit. The number one reason is $$$$$. Do you know how much money it takes to make a rotary run 11's consistently and reliably? About 3 times as much as I've got in the v8 swap. I love the body lines on this car, always have, but never liked the idea of messing with the rotary. If I were to dump the kind of money it takes to run fast with a rotary into this v8, I'd run 9's. Seems like a no-brainer to me. :salut:

Some people just don't get it. Luckily most of the responses I receive about my Dart are positive.

Even from the tuner kids (I guess if it even looks faster than theirs they shut up).

But hey screw 'em. Everyone has a chevy or ford, it's good to be outside the norm. :glasses2:

Cool car btw.

..................When those brand X idiots flap there gums...all i can think of is.................U CAN'T FIX STUPID......Kim......

I wouldn't worry too much about it, they're either jealous or stupid. I don't have time for either.

I have a buddy with a nice Chevelle, and every time I hit a little snag with my build, he say's "shoulda built a Chevy!!". I finally got tired of it and yelled at him "Why?!?! So I can have a car like you and every other *** hole?!?!" He hasn't said it since...

I never had anyone talk stupid like that to my face, around here most people are well informed about what a Mopar is capable of. I did have a construction guy yell out " nice goat" last summer, while driving down the street, i turned around and went back to inform him that Mopar never made a goat, only gm would name there car's after a farm animal!! Usually the stupid chebby guy's think everything has a Hemi, but most of them that have been around long enough have had there asses handed to them by a 340. If you want to keep the idiots away put some 360 Mopar badging on the car, buy the way, I'd love to take that mazda out for a shakedown once, gotta be a blast!

whenever someone would want to race my dart i'd tell them they have to beat my omni first. That got some real good responses from the heavy chebby and crustang boys. nobody knows what a GLH stands for except mopar people.

A Dodge was refered to as a goat long before the Pontiac GTO. The hood orniment Dodge used is what gave them the nickname....I think you need to give a construction worker a apologie.

I always laugh when chebby guys tell me how cheap it is to build a 350. Then I tell them "they oughta be cheap, you need three of them to last as long as one Mopar."

Also, when I see street rods with chebby motors, I like to say "Nice car, but lacks creativity under the hood."

And when chebby guys sing the praises of their small blocks, I like to say "A what?? Small blob shivvy??? Who in their right mind would build one of those piles????"

The kid was about 25 years old, I highly doubt he knows the history of Dodge, he thought it was a GTO, he appologized to me!

a lot of people think mopars are slow because well there are a lot of pig mopars out there.
it used to amaze me when i would go to the big mopar show at e-town (when it was actually worth going to) and even atco as to how many 14 and 15 second hemi and 440 cars there were, i used to say no wonder people don't think highly of mopars..

good 1 i bet that shut some of them up

Since nobody else is asking, I guess I'm the only one with my curiosity piqued... Can we see some pictures of this RX-7?

Funny thing about the car hobby, we all talk about individuality in our builds. Humans will always congregate to those that think alike, they will then form a consensus on that idea. I for one am of the build what ya like not matter what it is, even if I disagree with it. If we all could take this attitude then a force we would be, one strong enough to change policies. Cheers to you for thinking outside the box, I like RX-7s, my uncle used to race them, and I remember being about 7 years old when he gave me a 100 + mph ride.

They are idiots. Stupid, no brain worthless idiots. Get away from that group. lol...

I agree, get as far away from them.

A 360 in a RX7? Lets see the pics. I worked at a Mazda dealer in the mid 90's and got in a Miata one day.

No external clues about what was in it, there was a Mopar Performance sticker and it had a different hood with a bulge in it, and dual exhaust tips on it, which i thought was strange.

Got in it and started it up and it rumbled, What the?????? It had way more power than i thought it would. I got it in the shop and popped the hood and there was a 318 in there, built headers and exhaust. Really cool.

LOL:toothy10: I was giving you a hard time in chat. I do know what it takes to make a rotary run hard. My dad had one in his sand car. 20 psi making 500+hp. Also had to run 20$ plugs that needed changed every few days and a trany rebuild after almost every weekend out. Then there was the side seals that would blow out and the 2000+degress of heat it would put out. Thing looked like it was on fire at night glowing in the dark. LOL and all the things it would melt:angry7: Thing riped but ya bunch of$$$$$ to make it do that.

You got a nice car have fun with it and don't pay them no mind.

Chevy guys always try to get under your skin. Back in colledge I had a chevy idiot hassling me. I was driving my 4 dr 1983 Plymouth Caravelle (fury) cop car with 2:94 sure grip,904 and stock 318 4 bbl. The only change to the car was a mallory hi fire to get rid of the lean burn and it had my Darts fresh 904 with a basic shift kit.

We raced on the hiway,on back roads etc. He was driving a mid 80's Camero with 305,5 speed and 4:10 gears and headers.

Talk about a pile of crap. I couldnt believe it but there was no way he could catch me. I thumped his *** for better than 40 miles on the way back home. No matter what,he could not catch my near stock 4 dr mopar.Even from a full stop at a traffic light!

Chevy guys are all talk.

My Dart has the grocery getter 273 (aka 2 barrel carb) so I know its slow, the best I have seen is when a self appointed Mopar expert walks up looks under the chrome air cleaner, sees the 2 barrel then tells his buddies, "oh, its just a 318". My 51 plymouth has a 318 (originally a flathead 6)was at one car show and some olds guys that have been into cars for almost ever were looking at it, I just sat back and listened, "is it a buick nail head?". "no, that's not it" "is it..." finally I walked up and they asked me what it was, told them a small bock Chrysler, "oh. now I see it, cool". Everybody thought I had a ton of money into that engine, took it to alignment shop, one guy walks in and says thats an old one and one of the employees said "you should see the engine it" told him that it was just a stock 318, he said it looks nice though. at that time it had stock valve covers and 2 barrel air cleaner, just an overhauled 318.

wtf does that mean also brand stupid

Brand stupid is when a flag waver of a brand, MoPar, Chevy, Ford, whatever is so into there brand of car or anything that the parent company did, that everything else sucks no matter what and they can not be told otherwise, shown otherwise, or given eye witness proof otherwise, they still beileve there brand is the best. Period, lock stock and barrel. Bar none.

IF by chance there shown an apple to apple compare race, dyno test, endurance run, longevity run or whatever, they will make an excuse as to why they lost as if the competeing brand to theres has an edge.

This is also known as "Chevy-ism"
Theres also a less degree of this mental issue called "Forditits"

I have never met a bigger bunch of A#$holes than Chevy guys.
(Humm, a close second would be E-body owners with few exemptions. There a punch of self rightous pompus F$%k's. All most makes me wanna hide my '73 Cuda away.)

I allways used to get hammered due to my use of a 360. "It's a DOG motor, what are you? Stupid!?!?!"

When I had a 318 running 12's, it was; "OM FLIPPIN GOD! How much money did you put into that thing?!?!? What are you? Stupid?!?!?!"

Hummmm, basic rebuild, milled deck, Milled OE 360 heads, big Hyd. cam, nothing else much...IDK, seemed cheap to me and lasted years without issue before I sold it. Used to beat alot of so called "Worked" 350's.
