I don't know that they outright make stuff up like they do in the states, but its definitely a "low journalism" kind of thing.

This is very common, but I have never understood why people do this? THe cop asks if you've been drinking and your say "Yeah , but only a couple of beers."
Do they really think the LEO is going to say "Oh, screw it then, go on ahead!"
That's drunkese for "Yes officer, PLEASE give me a breathalyzer test and arrest me for DUI!".
The BA content levels are so low now, just watching a beer commercial puts you over the limit.
