Orange Twists 71 Duster Build

I currently have the summit intake which seems to be doing fine, but I sure like the way that Air Gap looks!

What a killer car! Nice job and congrats on the awards!

I never had any issues with mine. I just didn't get it sealed right when I put it back on. I figure if something has to come back off, might as well upgrade. I still have an issue to take care of, but I drove it the other day with the air gap, ans it's a big difference.

I'm sure you didn't see it when I asked before, because you were busy with the show......but what brand and size are your wheels? And what size are the tires? They look really good, and appear to fit nice as well.

What did you do with the old Shifter Handle? I see you have a pistol grip now? Car looks awesome!! That orange is mint!!

Actually I did. But what happened was, I got a pm at the same tome asking the same thing. I didn't pay attention to the name, just assumed it was you and replied. So I thought I did, but just checked and it obviously wasn't you. Lol

Anyways, the wheels are from jdwheel in Ohio. They are halibrand replicas. Rears are 15x8 with 4 3/4 backspace I believe. The front are 15x 4. The rear tires are 275/60/15. I can't remember what size the fronts are, but I jeff (jdwheels) sells the 15x4s already mounted, and that's how I ordered them. I believe 185/?? But can't remember the other #s off hand and the car is not at my house right now to go look. If you want to know anything else let me know.

If your e revering to the short burst handle, I just sold it on here to another member.

Thanks. I figured you just were busy with the show, but it's cool....I wasn't in a hurry anyways. Did you have to use offset hangers and shackles on the leaf springs, or are they in the stock location? I may use the pizza cutters on the front of mine too. I'm putting a 5.7 Hemi in my Duster and can't use power steering.

Nope. Springs are in the stock location. Im not sure which springs they are, asthey were already ok the car when I bought it.

Its a long story (which ill add later), but for now ill leave you with a pic if what im dealing with.

What really sucks is that I haven't even gotten to drive it but on a few test and tune trips. I wouldn't be as mad if I was out ripping on it and something broke. The other thing that sucks is that I was very close to opening it up while it was out and swapping in a different cam with a newer grind vs the purple shaft.

Did you post pictures in the past the described tear-down and repair of the rear pop-out windows? I saw it someplace 2 months back and now can't find it. I had my 71 Twister repainted recently and - while the body guy did great work on the painting - he didn't do my pop out windows any good. They are both out of place and one drags the metal at the bottom when it opens/closes. I need to pull mine out and fix something and I'm looking for pictures, etc that would help me do this with less guess-work.

Awesome, Awesome build thread and Duster!

Thanks for taking the time to show the whole process you went thru, and linking me to this from the Mats post!

It will serve as a very inspirational thread for my Duster

I wish I would have seen those undercarriage shots before crawling under it at the legendary booth, could have saved me some time and wear and tear on the knee's......LOL. Awesome car and congradulations on the cool parking spot at the show. Although I did see Dan Woods smoking next to it right outside the tent!!!

Gotta love that 8 track... Now I have Beattles tunes running through my head. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys. Nice to see my work appreciated.

Yeah he liked to stand over there for his smoke breaks. Most of the time myself and prrc were sitting or standing over there and would bs with him. He's a really cool guy and down to earth. Just a normal car guy that happens to have his own tv show.

But again, thanks foe the compliments.

Well it hit 24900 but didn't hit reserve. Had it sold to the high bidder but now complications arose with him so is now back at auction with a slightly lower reserve so it can get gone and I can start my next one.
