For Ugly Mopars Only

-
I LOVE those older Mopars! The Lancers, that 1961 Savoy, '64Newport, stand alone headlight Imperials. Super cool cars!

Omnis, Horizons, look like VW Rabbits.
K cars = YUKK, although the two doors are a lot better.
The Early Eighties had some crappy cars from the "big three".

The wood-grained K wagons looked like a brick with wheels . Early Imperials were way ahead of their time , but were very classy compared to the competition . All of Chrysler Corp. then were " innovative " , which set them apart from all other brands . Why would you have wanted a car like everyone elses back then ? Now-a-days , everything looks alike except for Mopars .

Sorry I know there are a few of you that have one of these. But hands down this is the ugliest Mopar ever built....

ANYTHING that has fake wood grain in it that the owners have left alone...what is with that ! ...just ugly...

At least my MG had real wood...

A face only a mother could love. I like ugly. I'm not a cookie cutter guy! What's not to like here:

Some may think 66 Darts are ugly but I think they're cool. See similar lines? (I need paint and a superstock scoop.)

what? You dont like this?

Not really. Arguably the ugliest American car ever. We used to own one, and I thought it was ugly then. I was, however, thoroughly taken with the instrument cluster and controls. Dad liked the performance of the 61 well enough to replace it with a special order '64 Fury 9 pax wagon w/SG and 383-4v. Now that was a car!

That all said, look at these grilles. These two were separated at birth or Exner lives (through a proxy?)

No Memike, I don't think the '66 Dart was ugly. In fact that and the 64-65 Barracuda are my favorite early A's. (But then, I have restored 2 '66 Darts, so my objectivity is somewhat compromised.)

I love early mopars off beat style, but yes there are little on the homely side.

In fairness, I think just about every manufacturer has pumped out their share of homeliness.

Not limited to the early '60's either, LOL

We all know it's not limited to the U.S.

Yup. That's right. Somebody you know DROVE one. In my opinion, these were only "less ugly" at the time because we had Pintos to look at

x2

I love having a unique looking car, my 62 Newport for example. People have asked my how I could drive such an ugly thing, my reply is, at least it doesn't look like everything else on the road.

That's when you tell the person you can always park your car in the garage and the ugly is hidden, you on the other hand...

If someone wants to be rude to me and insult me/my things I give it right back!

I agree. Every car is unique in some way and there's always a person out there who'll appreciate it. Sometimes I'll see a car and think to myself why would someone spend all this time and money in it, but I'd never say to the person something rude... This statement mostly goes towards imports!

Gremlins were cool, by buddy had the same color one as pictured in high school, except it had a 304 4-speed factory.
That SOB was quick, and would smoke the tires at will.

The '61 Dart was pretty hideous, too.

The downsized '62 Dart was a B-body and was also quite ugly, but it was a great car!

My Friend took his Uncles 1962 Plymouth Valiant Station Wagon to a 'Smash-Up Derby',
and the guy at the gate told him that the car was 'Too Ugly Too Enter'.

in all seriousness ...there is no such thing as an ugly mopar .....in my experience...every car I thought was ugly ....actually wasn't so bad once I took the time to really check it out.

in General I used to think all early As were ugly and part of that might be that I was never around them ...they are hard to find here and I have not spent much time around them ....but through FABO .....dang there are some sweet early As around ....like MR. WRB426 ..he has a sweet early dart.

so I was just stirring the pot in jest but in real ......if you think a certain type of car is ugly ...spend more time looking at them ....you will be glad you made an effort instead of writing off what could become your favorite car.[/QUOTE]

Couldn't have agreed more. Sometimes a second look is all it takes. I never even considered the early A bodies til I owned one. I love my 64 now more then the newer ones. Don't get me wrong I still love the newer ones but the early ones have such more lines to them. I can't wait to take mine to the next level. And thanks Rani for your kind words.:thumblef:
