69 Dart GT Conv. 340-6pak

-
Hey Cap,
I've had my 6 pak for quite some time, but I think for the small blocks there running around $2200 to around $2400. I gave $1650 for mine from Glendora Dodge several years ago.

Hmmmm, that's what I was afraid of. Last time I priced them out ('09, I believe) they were running around 1750-1850. That might have been a package deal from somebody. That's a lot of simoleons for an induction setup...

Great Convertible Build. My dad had a 67 or 68 hardtop Dart painted that color in a neighbor's garage back in the early 70's. I am thinking on painting my 68 Cuda convertible in green as tribute to him.

Thanks Cuda,
I'm really trying make this my best build ever. Good Luck with your 68 project. If you need any help, give me a shout,
Martin

Hey Evil,
Thanks for the compliment. On the dyno they really sounded cool, when I get to the chassis dyno, I'll really tune them. I'm hoping they drive as well as you and others have told me. Thats the main reason I bought new ones, I'm trying to eliminate problems before they happen, as much as possible.

That is a sweet build.
Is that a re-production wiring harness? Also where did you purchase the white wire holders that hold the wiring to the inner fenders.

One of the best things I invested in was the Promax system. It helped in tuning the three carbs together. It's around $500.00 with shipping but well worth every penny. I put on the metering block, the jet plates and the throttle base. I had mine on the dyno @ 340 HP 375 TQ and your right about the sound it is intoxicating!!

Hey Sire,
Thanks for the compliment. All three harnesses for this build are repops. They all came from Year One. Pricy but if you figure the cost of rebuilding the car after a fire, not really that pricy. The white wiring holders came from year one also, but I have seen tons of them one Ebay, and I'd bet most Mopar restoration supply businesses will have them. If you need any more info, just let me know and I'll get you specifics.
Thanks again,
Martin

Well went out to the shop to burn some midnight oil on the Dart only to find that the new master cylinder that I had just installed had leaked all the fluid out of the rear reservoir. So I had to pull it back off and order another one. I did get the fan back from being powder coated and it looks great. All is finally on the front of the engine now, time to move on. Had an idea for the instrument cluster, I think you guys will like it. I'll post pics of it tomorrow.

OK guys,
As promised here are some pictures of my 69 instrument cluster. Lets see how many of you can spot the upgrade that I made, and then I'll show you what I did.

Well, did'nt get much feedback on the instrument cluster, so I'll go ahead and tell you guys what I did. 67-69 abodies did'nt come with an oil pressure gauge only a light and they mearly came wtih a blank in the place of where it could be. I had several extra guages laying around so I sent the cluster and extra guages to A1 in Virginia and together we worked out a way to use the factory wiring harness to work with a gauge. Here is a pic of what the back of the cluster looks like...

Oil pressure looks factory, Martin! Excellent job! You are trying to make this your best build, and I think you are succeeding!

Appreciate it Cap! I gotta couple of other things on the drawing board, they look good on paper so we'll see as we progress.

Well after a bout with the Flu, I'm finally back in the saddle again. Got the Dash frame blasted along with the new torsion bars. I'll have both sanded in a couple of hours and then the dash frame is off the the paint shop for Go Green treatment, and the bars are off to the powder coaters along with the chassis ties. Should have the bars and ties back by Friday, the dash will be longer...

Won't the temps required to bake the powder coating affect the torsion bars?

Well this week was pretty good. Gotta lot of new stuff, and got the trans apart and cleaned for powder coating. The chassis ties came back from powder coating and look super. The heat and air from Classic Auto Air came in as well as the Hotchkis struts and the Turbo Action valve body.
When the trans casing is coated and back to me, I'll start reassembly and mate the trans to the engine and all to the K member, then hopefully I'll be ready to raise the car up and drop it on the K member. Wish me luck,
Martin
