Lol. I'm out right now again thrashing tbe bageebers out of it. Poor Scamp! Haaa I got hungry and I'm eatinnn a couple tacos. Gunna head home after I eat and chalk up a few more victims. There a car show in town like usual. Plenty of victims to choose from.

No I had mice in one of my other cars. I bought like 15 boxes of baking soda
To douce the interior and try to get rid of the smell. Finally went to water damage restoration place and used one if their deionizer machines that got rid of it for good.
 
We've used this stuff called OdoBan to eliminate those wonderful smells. (In our case, cat piss in a room). It's made with eucalyptus and works like a charm. Haven't had a chance (or need) to use it in a car yet. Just throwing it out there.

And man do you have me thinking about throwing some spray on the Valiant when I get her up and running again.....
 
Tuned on the caltracs a bit. Almost there, lil bit more and the pulling to the left will be a distant memory.
Last night out of the hole I brought it up on the converter to about 2800 rpm. Let it loose and I was surprised how well it hooked on the street. Hazzzed the tires a bit, I did not heat them, and about 20' out it sat and gat pulling just barely to the left. Popped all 3 gears....this is too much fun!

I got the front strut bars a couple days ago, waiting on the upper a arms and that will be next.
 
Had a small weeping oil leak at the filter plate. Took off the old and installed a Canton Billet unit and a Shorty Filter so I can actually get a wrench on it. The old oil filter "BIG one" took me 2 hours to get off. I have not cursed like that in YEARS. Damn POS. Also had a small fuel leak at the Regulator. One of the hole plugs just needed to be re sealed. All is good.
 
Well the scamp responds very well to NOS is all I can say!. Scared the **** out of myself today a couple times, I stayed in it though! Lol, I need to put a cage and good seat belts in it soon!
 
Trying to get the Scamp ready for Barona on the 30th.

List of things to do.

1) Replace NOS Fuel Pump…. Leaking at base plate. Ordered new BIG END Black Pump.
2) Battery Shut off Switch & Amp Meter Delete
3) Mount Overflow Bottle
4) Fix Neutral Safety Switch
5) Try and make a "N" Lock out on Column Shift….. Tig Welder to the rescue. Should be easy.
6) Install Strut Rods, Upper A Arms and probably rebuild the whole front end at same time.
7) Build NOS Filling Station. Got a tank for free going to get it re Tagged. Simple easy and CHEAP too.
8) Get a couple more 10lb NOS Bottles.
9) Drop Exhaust and put on Collector Extensions

On the NOS Filling Station. I found a service that will drop off the big 68lbs bottles on exchange for $119.00 Delivery fee is $35.00. With the delivery Charge this still comes out to $2.32 per lb. There is a guy in town that charges $4.69 per lb. I will more than likely get another bottle so I always have a full one for refills. It will be nice to have this so I am not relying on anyone to be open and no driving around to get the stuff. I have a couple friends that will refill their stuff with mine too that will offset the cost a bit. So in the end it will more than likely be under $2.00 Lb for my use.

Here is an article on how to set up your own NOS Filling station on the cheap. I already have the freezer. Just need the Blankets & Fill Line. I will build my own stand.

No not yet trying for Nov 30th.

It may soon be Turbo & NOS on same motor! Lol
 
Today's Victim was a Shelby GT500! He had no chance in this world even with his supercharger!
He had some stuff done to it like Chip FOOSE Stickers all over it. Haaaaaa, lol

I quit counting after about 6! Lol guy pulled next to me at a light with that **** grin on his face revving his engine, I could hear the whistle, I popped mine in neutral and cleaned it out. I had just come off the fwy from a 3rd gear smack on the off ramp. Nos was hot but I didn't even use it! I brought it up to about 2k on the converter as he was revving the **** out of his"Stick" he could not hook and I was gone! 20" wheels and no sidewall good job Chip! Sounded bitchen tho with manga flow exhaust! Haaaaa, I just had to throw that in there!:D
 
Was messing with the NOS Fuel pump trying to get the FP to be rock steady. I was noticing that when the pump got warm the FP would creep up to 12 PSI from 6.5 , I did a search and found out that a lot of people with the Holly configured fuel pumps have this issue when using the 12-803 style regulator. So I ended up stretching the spring in the Fuel Pump about 1/2" longer and polished the plunger. I put it back together and this seemed to fix the problem a bit and when the pump got warm it would creep up to about 9 PSI after this mod. When I had the pressure spring and plunger out I popped the bottom plate off and inspected the veins. They seemed a little tight but I just put it back together. What I am going to do in the next few days is Polish the Veins so they move in and out with ease. What I am thinking is when the pump gets hot the vein tolerance is tightening up messing with how much fuel the pump is flowing and in this case the FP is increasing. Anyway trial and error will tell me. I don't know why this bothers me because this pump will not be on longer than 1 minute at any given time. It is only for the NOS. In that time the pump stays cool and the FP is steady. It only fluctuates 1/4 LB when smacking the button. This is very minimal.

I adjusted the valves today they were pretty close but I am a weirdo when it comes to valve lash so I tuned on them for a while. I make sure it is correct and the adjusters are very tight so they don't move. I want piece of mind when I am up in the RPM's.

Also TIG welded on the 2 Breather extensions. This was my first project doing Aluminum. I think they came out well for old oily valve covers. I cleaned them the best I could before I started and I pre heated them with a Propane torch to a good temperature before I started welding on them. I just could not find a way for the old set up not to weep a bit. The sealing system was junk. New Rubberized metal core Valve Cover gaskets will be installed also. My goal is to get the engine to breath a bit better. Brian at IMM has a set of valve covers that have 4 Breathers like this and they seem to work well. If need be I will pop the other 2 in later.The tubes are 3" long so I can adjust them up and down a bit.

So I'm about to rebuild the whole front end cause the steering feels loose. I figure it's all old so that's got to be why. Well when I was working on the car I figured I may as we'll inspect it, maybe the steering gear needs adjustment. Nope, I turn the steering wheel and look at the steering Box for slop.....the whole frigginnn steering box is loose as hell and moving, all 3 bolts look as if they were never tightened down.

After months of fixing everything I have on this car, I had thought I fixed all the hokieeee work done....apparently not. Today I will tighten it all up... Re inspect it and order what it needs.
 
Battery Disconnect. I ran an extra 12 Ga wire to the back of the car with the 8 Ga wire the comes from the alternator. It is not connected just there for any future use.

Well tbe Scamp is getting a roll bar/cage, new bucket seats of some sort, 5 point harnesses and a floor shifter.
A friend of mine at the track yesterday has racing seats that he took to an upholstery guy who lives really close to me and had him add foam and very nice covers to match his interior. It looked sweet! I am leaning toward doing the same thing. I am going to start gathering all tbe parts.
 
FYI, these gaskets work very well and the $$ is good too. My Valve covers have been ground and sanded on too from the previous owner so the surface is not completely square and straight. Not a drop of oil leak either.

How thick are they Louis? I am thinking of changing out my v/c gaskets as the blue moroso reusables are starting to leak now after 3 years of use. The moroso's are thick and very nice quality, but double the price of those in that link

These are really thick.... The ad says 3/16" but they gotta be 1/4". Very nice gaskets. I have a couple more sets in my shopping cart. I'm building another motor so I'm starting to gathering all the goodies now.
