I recently installed a Hurst Super Shifter 3 in my car. At first I had the factory stick in it, then I decided to try the short 7" stick that came with it. The throw was much shorter, but damn it hurt my back trying to reach the stick to shift. I either need to extend my arms or shrink my torso !! Here are some pics, what do you guys think ??

I voted stock shifter, I bet that shorter shifter would work better with bucket seats too.

I put a shorty in my swinger for about a week. Less throw and a little easier to speed shift, but I hated hunching or leaning over. Stock one is back in to stay.

I wonder if there's a handle in between the two?

I say stock , never liked those t-handle shifters. And hunching forward to shift gets old.

You can't shift fast or accurately when you have to fumble around on the floor for your shifter.

I wouldn't even think about using the short one.

I went back to factory ! Short stick might be better for a bucket seat car, I just couldn't get over the reach .... plus the damn thing loosened up after a few hard shifts ! I do like the feel of the T handle, too bad its a diff thread pitch than the factory knob ..

I have a Hurst t handle for the stock shifter. I like the feel of the ball better. I still want to try a b body pistol grip myself.

get yourself a stock unit and start chopping it down, 2 inches at a time until it is right where you want it

I like the looks of the factory one better and if it is the one that works better for you thats the way I would go.

Another thing I did was take out the vac gauge in the center pod and put a tach in it.

I like the stock handle. If you want shorter throws, cut down the shifter tabs on the trans side and weld them back together.

The longer stock one ! The short shifter looks like something a CHEVY guy would do. Say.......Does your car have a POSI ? Just having some fun with you ! lol

I voted stock also but when I had a bucket seat Duster I used the short shaft shifter no problem and really liked it.

How did you get the stock shifter to bolt up, mine is a spade type, and the hurst 3 is a bolt on?
