Anyone know of an electric system that doesn't require pulley integration? Or is there a way to set up a pulley driven pump with power steering and alternator on a 440?
If your rings are decently sealed,, the conventional PCV/breather system is quite adequate,, and in fact you'd loose power running the pump.. jmo hope it helps
The other thing I'm wondering .....is it better to run PCV to the air cleaner so it evacuates at high rpm when pressure is building up? If I understand correctly the pcv to manifold vacuum is doing no evacuation at high rpm
That's the way it's supposed to work.. You're right,, at some point the crankcase pressure will exceed vacuum,, that's where the breather comes in, and vents the excess crankcase pressure/vapors to the air cleaner,, So the motor needs both parts to be a complete system,, the PCV to suck out the vapors at less than WOT,, and the vent to the A/Cleaner for excess pressure.. Didn't we cover this under the "Massive Oil Leak" thread..???
Will do tomorrow! Stay tuned.Get it up to running temp,, pull the PCV outta the Valve cover,, vigorously rev the engine with your finger/hand over the PCV hole in the V/Cover.. Do you feel any pressure blowing your finger/hand off the hole..??
A Joe Sherman built engine...He's one of the best in the business! How about running a conventional PCV and piping a breather to the air filter? Maybe the best of both worlds?
Lol he knows nothing about mopar. Don't get me started. If you need your heads ported give him a call. Rip off artist.
Oh check out the razor blade and front seal spring found in the pan. Joe Sherman needs to retire.Take a guess. That's right an oil pickup that didn't clear the crank. Well maybe if I would have spent more than 12k I could have got the one that cleared the the crank.

Getting back to my original purpose of this post....is anyone running an evac pump on a 440 block with power steering?
You may want to pose that question on Yellowbullet.com , I only know of maybe 2 to 3 guys on here that run a Vac Pump... One of them is me. There are way too many stock is the way to go guys on here. Out of the box questions and scenario's its best to visit Yellow Bullet where guys actually do the stuff and use it. You are WAY past stock works best. LOL You will most likely be doing a 1 Off custom install on your set up. I had to totally modify GZ's bolt on kit for my engine. Had to visit a Lathe and machine down the Mandrel as well as modifying the pump bracket and getting a different size Cog Belt to make it all work.
I'm going through this now on a customers big block from Compu flow. Rear main leaking in 1 mile of driving. Compu flow more or less giving me zero in terms of back up. I'm looking for an electric vacuum pump setup too for the customer. Basically, it's an all out race motor for a customer who wanted a street motor. Leaking oil and 1400 rpm idle.....Street motor....
