Don't suppose a MP Purple oval track cam would help you any would it.
497 lift, 288 duration with a 75 overlap RPM cam.

Hey, SOMEBODY's gotta pay shipping on all them fiats

That was for cam and lifters but still sky high. Thanks for the offer TB but not enough cam for my 440. Thanks for the heads up on summit I had better buy before they go up. Must have some left in stock before the price goes up. Jegs had them for 188.99 before Christmas. I guess I waited to long.

Oh sorry, I didn't see the 440 part, duh. :D

much BETTER cams out there to choose from..leave those old and outdated mopar ones on the shelf where they belong..

well...I bought a mp590 cam 3 years ago....new with lifters paid 125 dollars...ran a best of 10.78 in 71 Duster 360 in vegas....thought hell that is an old and outdated cam...I should update to something new....bought a Hughes 6064 cam....paid 165 dollars plus had to buy a set of lifters too......71 Duster has run a best of 10.82 in Vegas....Wow...that old outdate cam can still get it done...If you got one use it...if you find one for a deal ...buy it..

Agreed!

Those 528, 557 and 590 cams work really well regardless of how old they are.

Only to a degree, I agree. I have just found it amazing how well an old outdated cam can perform soooooo much better than the supposed super new fangled computer designed cut and laser measured cams produced today IF the combo can use it.,

before buying a mopar performance part from a speed-shop, try your local dealership for pricing. they sometimes sell for a little less to their local racers.

lol...... I think you sliced the pie and ate it.... I've personally never had an issue with the old school MP cams. Results is what we all want, and they give it.

I love how people always come out of the woodwork to bash something they have never used, or used in a mismatched combo and it didn't work well.

The facts are like this. When the MP cams were originally designed....when they were Direct Connection, they were cutting edge.

Then sometime in the 1980s, they were redesigned to have a LOT more area "under the curve" to take more advantage of the .903 lifter diameter. They were cutting edge yet again. They are still a proven way to make power today. Proven. Tried and true. Absolutely ZERO guesswork. That's a tall order.

Yes, that was a long time ago. But those cams still work in a matched combination. That's what people don't get. It's not the camshaft that makes power. It's the combination.

Look at a Mopar Performance engine book at all those engine and car recipes. No one else in the industry ever did that. Ever. And if you go down the line and build one of those recipes, your car WILL run in the bracket as indicated.

Hughes does not offer that. Comp does not. Lunati does not. No other cam maker backs up their product with entire recipes showing you how to build a particular combination.

Mopar Performance did. Over 40 years ago. Seems to me they were WAY ahead of their time.

Yes 40 years ago they were ahead of their time and were the place to go for parts for your Mopar. The problem is they are still selling the same parts and haven't introduced anything new in since cave men were here.

Just look at what gm and ford do for their gear heads.

Neither GM nor Ford had a 27 year span of not making rear wheel drive V8 powered cars. Mopar did.

Their cams STILL work. Just because there are "more modern" grinds available, does not necessarily make them "better". It is all combination dependent.

Exately they offered us nothing but front wheel drive pieces of crap in that span..and their cams STILL suck!!!

LOL, still a hater.

Below is exactly what brought me aboard and for final.

Now if I could just dyno every listed combo for HP results. You know, enquiring wanna know, just for ha ha's.

Nothing wrong with MP cams, they worked then and still do, my mates stock stroke 440 Dart at 3150 ran 10.1's at 131 at Santa Pod with an MP .590 solid and old factory iron rockers, its all in the combo.
