You know, I am putting in the floor shift too, but all you need to do is take of the column shift collar, remove the handle and fill the shifter hole... there are lots of people that do this and its waaaaaay easier than buying new column, removing old, installing new etc... just remove collar, fabricate a bit, paint and reinstall...

I hear you, it's an original 4-speed car so it has a floor shift column in it already. Just switching it from power to manual to get some room in there(under the hood). I guess I only need a manual steering shaft. It's just a hard to find piece. One year only. I'm sure I'll have to buy a whole column.

So a manual steering shaft wont work out of 70-72?

The steering shaft from a 70-72 will work. The interlock has nothing to do with the shaft IIRC.

I dont remember who at the moment but they make a shaft adaptor for a power steering column to manual steering box.
