It seems like a lot of guys my age and younger (I'm 36) really started learning about fast cars on foxes. I had an 84 LX HO 5 speed convertible. I wish I still had it.

I have owned quite a few including 93 Cobra, 89 Saleen, 90 Saleen and 88 GT ragtop. Still love them and wish they were in the garage, LOL...

Dave,

If I wanted to build a fast modern car for cheap thats what I would choose.

i've had a 87 and a 90. real fun cars. can still buy them cheap and tons of aftermarket support... :)

the 87 i got rid of last winter..

I like that 87 although I'm partial to the early 4 eyed cars. That color is really interesting

only a little over 200 that color in 87. and only 1 of 18 that color and trim package in 87. rare car but not worth all that much..

i love 4 eye cars too. they are getting pricey though

'83 GT trunk model here with the 5.0 roller motor and a five speed. 3.5s in front and 60s on the rear ... most fun in the rain I ever had.
Billy traded it off for a POS money pit diesel Ford 1710 tractor.
I miss that car. Don't miss the tractor.

A hot Fox Body in the rain can be tremendous fun our very harrowing. Or both.

I ordered and bought a brand new LX 5.0 notchback in 1988. I had big ideas of keeping the mileage low and selling it when it became a classic. Had the car for 8 years and put less than 10000 miles on it. I paid 11K with tax and everything and sold it for 9K. I actually still have the window sticker of that car. I'll trade it for the build sheet of my 70 340 Duster.

Used to race a 79 with a warmed up 351W, C4 with a trans brake and a high stall converter (3800 on the brake), 9" with 3.89 gears and a Detroit Locker diff. Started in the mid 13's and various changes eventually got it into the high 11's, best 5 years of family time I ever had. Have owned a fox body variant, a more door LTD Brougham, took out the dead V6 and dropped a 351W and AOD tranny in it, that was a fun car too, ran 14's, not too shabby.

Buddy I grew up with was a ford guy, dabbled in Mopar for a short time, had a 40th anniversary Mustang Vert 4.6. then went 4$4 truck. now he's back to muscle cars, just flipped his Ford 4X4 for $$ and bought 2 Goats, a 65 and a 69 with 2 LS3 crate motors. Must be nice.....

I am building what is basically a light Fox car now. A 76 Mercury Bobcat. 99 5.0 GT40P engine and T5 transmission. Car will weigh no more than 2600 pounds when done in street trim.

65 was the best year for Goats

I had to look up the 76 Bobcat. Interesting, Pinto like

Always thought the fox bodies were uglier than a moldy jar of piss myself... Course I hate all mustang between 71-93. I love 67-70, like nicely done 94-98, love nicely modded 99-04 and some of the newer ones are really nice too. There's really no non Mopar from 72-94ish that I'd want other than camaros. And I'd rather have a 70+ camaro than a 68-69, those are too dang common.

My buddy used to have an 83 Mustang GT 5.0 back in the day. His brother bought it new and had the engine "tweaked" after the factory warranty expired.

Cam, manifold, carb, and a 110 HP nitrous kit... Fast car, we had a blast racing around town in it. It could pin you back in the seat through 3rd gear...

By the time my friend bought it off his brother, nobody around town would race him....

My brother has a 1 of 3. In 1992 SCHP purchased 108 Mustangs for state troopers which were pre delivered through D&D Ford in Greer. I was working there.
At the same time there was a Carolina Firecracker edition produced. Special red paint, white leather guts, white vert top, white porcelain coated wheels, etc... A couple of days after the 92 model year production ended there was a special order accepted for 3 more of these cars, Firecracker edition but with police specs.
They did have 93 VIN and title. They only police part they didn't have is the big *** dome lamp that we installed at D&D Ford.
It's ECM died in 2004. All I'll say about that is, What a headache!

My Ford son's '88 LX hatch was in my shop for a year while I back halved with, ladder bars, wheel tubs and frame rails. Learned more about these cars then I ever wanted to, but realized the craze as these things are instant race cars.

Yep, had a black 1988 LX notch 5.0 and 5 speed manual. Enjoyed the heck out of that car. Wish still had it.

My mother in law has one, a 90 something GT 5.0 convertible 5 speed! It's a fun car, only 11,000 miles, and I think I've put more miles on it driving it to get new tires than she has since she's owned it!! She bought it from a good friend of mine who bought it new! He was so worried about who was going to buy it that she actually had to be "interviewed" before they made the deal!! He couldn't fathom the idea of it falling into the hands of a reckless teen, even tho he had zero love for the car!! It's in good hands now!!!

Bought a brand new '93 Coupe Black w/grey interior. 5.0 5speed the 94's were just hitting the lot. Yes I do regret that one. That one and my '70 Charger I had in H.S. are really the only two cars.
