Absolutely agree. Benefits/medical are a MUST nowadays.
Smart/skilled guy will land on his feet.
Hopefully he still builds as a side.job.
All the best Mike.

perhaps @stingerdart1972 can shed some light on this...i think he is dealing with Mike on a 318

MRL 318 stroker motor shipped on 6/12 .....but I finally recieved it on Friday 6/23 after what Mike texted me was some mislabel issue with the trucking company. I have tried several times to talk on the phone and text for a few questions on parts and set up. So this answers my question for why no answers.

thanks guys for the info

Sorry to hear it, hope he keeps giving advice here and maybe do some builds on the side.

Kudos to him for doing what's right for his family. It's a real shame how expensive insurance is. Insurance is the biggest scam since Obama.

StingerDart, I hope being one of his last builds, that he did you right and that motor turns out awesome.
I also hope Mike continues to hang out here.

Been a bad deal in this country, along with healthcare in general, WAY before any recent presidents... :)

Hope things go well for Mike and his family.

Wow. That's the same reason I don't own a shop today. Sometimes the solid choices are the hardest.

Best of luck to Mike. His contributions to this forum were informative and genuine. Dealing with the public, especially in the custom service industry is tough. Everyone wants to pay peanuts for unique craftsmanship RIGHT NOW, unfortunately.

That's because most of us are making peanuts. And paying high health insurance. Jeez, my wife's been with the same hospital 20 years. If she goes to the ER it's $750 co-pay. Dr's visit yesterday $129. Go to a walk in $25. Things are a MESS!!!!

Let's not get into politics here. We can save it for the N&P section.

As mentioned. Mike was a great asset to us here with his specialized knowledge and up front demeanor.
I also hope he stops in from time to time.

It's a damn shame he can't make a living doing what he loved, and what he is good at.

As someone mentioned before, part of the cause is people don't know what value is. They price shop.

Knowing Mike's reputation, I cant see any reason why it wouldn't be an awesome engine and build. Mike strikes me as a do it right person, even with what he has going on, I can't see him not giving it 100%.

Thoughts and prayers Mike. I know you locked your profile down but hopefully you stop in and say high from time to time.

bennies are what makes the world go round , we think fitting up these hotrods are costly . just talk with your doctor about any hospital stay . my cam grinder took a job with pg&e for the bennies . pays not bad either . and he's got a couple part timers retired grinders working with him . just to keep everybody happy . he designs and they follow the patterns . hope mrl comes back , maybe as a part timer builder .

I have no doubts, just going to need you guys to guide me on parts choices so I can get this bad boy installed

I can't say enough good things about mike ... i must of im'd him 100 times making up my mind on my build and he convinced me to go big block... i wanted to start my build this fall... he replied in a few words..... i am not going to build anymore engines for anyone .....i went at got a real job......take if for what its worth.... but he is going to TRULY missed with his KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE in the MOPAR world ....i am hoping also that he will do some builds on the side ....Good Luck Mike ...

He is doing what is needed and nothing else matters. But he will be missed!

It would be nice if he would at least follow up on the last engine he built, we don't mind helping the buyer, but still.

Sorry to hear this. Mike is a real good, knowledgeable guy on engines, great guy to work with. He did an engine for me last year, I made several trips to his shop, got to know him a little. He had been teaching engine related courses at a local jr. college part time to help out, he had mentioned briefly about his wife having some ongoing health issues. Maybe something went sour on a build for somebody, dealing with the public can be real stressful when the customer is upset and angry about something.

He should move to Canada and set up shop, good engine builders here a swamped with work.

Give the guy a minute to digest having to give up his dream/business, and I bet he will. I know I would be crushed, and it sounds like he has other things going on, so try not to be too quick to judge. He always seemed to me to be a stand up guy. No offense, just saying...
