TIRED

Yeah knowing bullshit when you see /smell it is key, that and going with your gut feelings. Even young people these days wont work for peanuts, but then everything costs double what it used to 25 years ago, so what really is "peanuts".

I received a notice from a major player in the chemical field, adhesives, and they want me to come in for a test either Tuesday or Thursday. Another step in the process. But yeah, no benefits at current job, and I mean nothing other than a week vacation maximum regardless of how long one is there. Dude also told me that the pay will never be equal to other shops in a similar business. Also made a comment about how he knows more than me about machining and always will.... Wtf was up with that? I never questioned his ability on machining, so that really came out of nowhere. Dude is whacked for sure.

Well, sent resume to a chemical company, this division makes adhesives. Today is the 31st, have test with them on Aug 2nd. And my age is listed in an earlier post. Another step in the process. I have a couple prospects, but one thing at a time.

Well, things have changed. I called in that Thursday to go take the test. I did well on the math section, but missed one to many on the oral instruction part...... So I didn't get the job. When I went in the next day, I was seriously confronted by dude. Asked where was I at. Told him I did call in. He did not like that answer, I told him it was personal business, and I could tell he was just getting more and more ticked off. Well, he ended up firing me on the spot. Gave me two weeks pay. Still have yet to find work. Can't go back to previous place cause like an idiot I didn't work my two weeks. *sigh* But I have a couple leads, one place is always hiring, at least I hope they still are. They have high turnover as it is. So I/WE were right about not telling dude I was looking for work. I wished him good luck, cause he is going to need it. More later.

My philosophy is always simple, find enjoyment in everything you do! I guess I'm lucky in that I am in high demand in my field, and have been turning away work on a regular basis! Most all of my customers wait until I can get to them, even for months at a time! I recently took a job for a high school friend of mine to help him out, it's more money but less time and more driving! I'll probably tell him I can't go on much longer as it will mess with Nella's SSI if I continue at his rate of pay!

If/when anybody asks me what I would like to be doing, I always respond the same...just what I'm doing! I don't do things I don't want to do, instead find the enjoyment in everything I do!!i wish you luck Louie!!

Just gotta hang in there and DO NOT GIVE UP! Things will happen.

Did you pay enough quarters in to SS to draw a check?

"I'm tired of waking up tired" also, been driving cab 20 years, use to make $1200 a week minimum. Now lucky to make a 1/4-1/3 of that. Doing 14 hours shifts making anywhere from $60-$350 mainly $150 plus, $250 plus is rare. Thinking of moving on but don't like the looks of things out there. Maybe dump or cement truck in my future.

But could be worse, lots of people doing worse.

I few years back (10 years ago) when I was making good money I found this web site that you put in your yearly income and ranked how rich you were in the world.
I imagine it wasn't 100% accurate but I was in the 7,000,000 ish richest person in the world lol. Maybe I'm still in the top 50 or 100 of a million th peeps but that means there 6 billion doing worse.
Don't know if that should make me happy or sad lol

You only live one life that we know of. In the end it's all for not do what it takes or want and make the best of it.

just enough to get a small monthy check . but working with my dad for years put me in the right real estate standings . properties that bring in rents , thats how i learn what makes them stand the test of time and tenants . but i did invest in vintage car racey parts from years ago . i've been a collector of americans and mopar hotrod and racer stuff for years and was a swap meet used parts vendor for years as well . first in line for those deals at the meets . i've been told i have a hoard of vintage stuff . well always planned the retirement around the vintage car field . and here i am , lol . even collected wagons thats what the body on my pittracer was a radio flyer wagon tub .

This is exactly what I meant in post #11. There are all kinds of ways to hit retirement. Just need a good plan and stick to it.

yes collecting has had it down falls . but i've made some great friends doing it and meet some very cool people . did some things i believe never would have happened if in hadn't . i did a trade for my gasser austin a40 2dr body with a swap meet deal on a algon injection for a 409/348 for a song , guy didn't realize what he had , and i found a guy that wanted it and he had austins . the rest is how you say his tor ee . and here is some history going in that a40 . more swap meet scores .

I'm starting a 2 year program that I spent 2 years getting pre-reqs for. I used to do remodeling, delivery, waiting tables, cleaning toilets. Ill graduate in 2019 (hopefully). Ill be 48. It hurts to get up every morning mon-fri to go to school and work 12s on the weekend. I hope you score a good gig and work it. Keep going. We all feel your pain in one way or another. You are not alone

plans are hard to hold on too . many times they would leave me short and in search of space for the hoard , just to coin a fraize . but life is a gamble unless your born with money . there are no tricks to it . just hold to your guns . and your plan could be true . many people thought i was crazy for the goals i put forth . but when i started collecting a b and e body muscle were cheap and everywhere , and most of the racer stuff was too . and it was guys like me that made those prices go up . for you can't eat if there is no profit , lol .

Went to this place after receiving offer. Had drug screen, no problem there. Now just gotta wait for whatever happens next. Still looking for work though, sent about three more apps Friday.

Cut "door panel moisture barriers" out of dumpster rescued plastic mattress covers and sell them on Ebay for $30 a set. Hey, it works for someone! (see stupid Ebay buyer post) But seriously, I hope something comes along. My bro in law was an aerospace machinist and was promoted to a position that oversees the writing of the assembly instructions of various parts they make. Right after he moved over, they laid off his entire production line and moved it to Mexico. He's still working here but everything is being made over there and hes getting the prototypes to see if everything fits together properly. A Church member is a tool designer at ITT/Canon, he designed all the fiber optic connector injection molds. It was a 90 man production line, they had a meeting and asked him and 9 other guys to go to another conference room, oh crap.... The 80 that were left got canned. He left 6 months later and after that the entire plant closed, everything shipped down to Mexico and the plant was demolished. He works for Mossimo clothing designing sunglass molds now.
