it was time to ditch the 15x7 and move into something different. 17x7 in front and 18x9.5 in the rear. Minitubed, shortened rear end, moved axle back, relocated springs and reworked the wheel lip in the front. Based on the reaction at a big show over the weekend it was worth it.

Nice!

Added benefit is a far larger selection of tire compounds, speed ratings, modern case and tread designs.

Great look and even better around the corners I bet!

I need to put some sway bars on it. It has more body roll now that I narrowed it

Moving the perches changes that some, but the added grip at the tires means they hold tight and more load gets translated to the suspension too.

And, nice work! You nailed the stance, and that makes a big difference when going to the larger wheel diameters and making them look like they belong.

Great looking Duster!

Never thought I would say that 18's look good on a Mopar, but they really look good. Rod

Thanks, I must have moved the wheels in and out front to back a 100 times.

Honestly me either. I was a nervous wreck when I placed the order. I thought I was going to ruin my car but I wanted something different than what I had so I just went for it. Built everything around them.

What brand? Forgeline?

Can you provide more specs? Backspacing/offset/etc

i think it would look better if you dropped the front...or better yet...raised the tail end of it, so you have at least the same amount of the rear tire showing as you do the front

i'm not a fan of big wheels on our classics...but i think you converted me.
very nice!

I agree, I thought the front end would settle more but it didn't so I think I might raise the rear a tad. I have the RMS relocation boxes so I can raise it an 1".

What are you running up front suspension wise? I bet if you lowered the front a 1/4" you'd be right there. Wouldn't take much.

Running the junky stock stuff until winter when I put a HDK or GST k-member. But yes, I think 1/4 to 1/2 would be just about right.

Looking for rear swaybar recommendations that will work with inboard springs too.

Properly updated the torsion bar suspension can perform just as well as any of the aftermarket coilover stuff. You can shave a few more lbs with the coilover conversions, add a rack and pinion, and you get some header clearance, but that's about all you get for an extra couple grand in spending. Oh, and the need to reinforce your shock towers and stiffen the front end of the car to put suspension loads where they weren't designed to be carried. Personally, I LIKE the torsion bar suspension once you take care of updated a few things, it has some nice advantages. But to each their own I guess.

As for the rear bar, using a Hellwig E-body bar, #6908, seems to work well. That's what @72BBSwinger is running on his car with a 3" relocation.

The wheels are US wheels with the fronts being 17X7 with a 4" BS and the rears are 18x9.5 with a 4.5" BS. They are off the shelf wheels and I just built the rearend around them. Tires are 235/40/17 and 285/40/17 which ends up being 28.5" tall. Like I mentioned before it did take some trimming of the front fender. I think it was about an inch at the bottom and taperd it about half way up the wheel lip.
