This is new to me.....
Me; "Hello Summit, one CompCams XE262 camshaft please"
Summit; "Is this item for a vehicle mfg. before 1966 or a kit vehicle?"
Me; "Huh? Neither, it's for a 1974 vehicle, pre Calif. smog"
Summit; "This item has been removed from the Calif. air resources...." blah blah blah....
Me; "What does that mean?"
Summit; "It means I can't sell it to you"
Me; "...um..my mistake, it is for a pre 1966 vehicle"
Summit; "Ok, we have it in stock, you should receive that in 1-2 days. Thank You"

Yep. If Moonbeam had his way, engines would be outlawed tomorrow. Guess we'd be moving product in CA on his high speed choo-choo. Oh wait....

I been told by others to say everything you order is for a: " 1932 Ford "

This is just so maddening to us CA natives who have refused to drink the kool aid, and just keep seeing shi+ go to hell from every angle. To stay in our hobby we are being driven to be just like politicians, (liars, cheats and thieves).

I tried to order some spray paint from Summit last year. Told me they could not ship it to CT due to some new law. Got it from Jeg's, no problem. Also bought spray paint direct from manufacturer (Martin-Senour) with no problem. Both shipped UPS, no problem at all. Summit has some issues.

i find the majority of the people who work the sales phones and customer service at Summit to be very ignorant about what they are actually selling.

Summit has a typo in their system. The rule is pre 1976 not pre 1966.

I must've gotten lucky with summit in the past. I had a similar experience buying a cam kit once. The lady asked me if this item would be used on a street car and I answered yes.
She said, "okay, let me ask you again, wink wink."
Then I said no and she laughed and said, "Oh good! Now I can sell you your parts!"
I'm sure she was just following protocol. She had a good sense of humor about the whole thing.

I called them back and asked about the new questions. The guy wasn't real clear, other than the wording is new. They used to just make a statement like "these parts are not legal on pollution controlled vehicles". Why they ask about 1966, I don't know. Like someone else here posted, just tell 'em it's for a '32 Ford lol. BTW, the girl I talked to when I ordered was nice enough and all, she said all she can do is ask the questions. No problem.

I’ve spent a lot of time in that country... I enjoy freedom too much. I’d move back to the United States. I hate it there. “Yeah but the weather”... well... yeah but the gas prices, the violation of the constitution, housing prices, taxes, etc... I don’t get it.

Man I'm glad I live about as far away from Ca. as possible and still be in the USA. Florida! Even thou some of the silly **** passed there, winds up here in 5 years!

Most of the parts companies and even the tire companies that you buy from on line ask for what you are using it for. I just say “other” and leave it at that. They only need to know to protect themselves and as long as I don’t tell them what it’s for, they are covered.

It isn’t a lie to refuse to give them information they don’t need. It’s not like they can verify it anyway. For all they need to know, I’m making a lamp out of it.
