My friend who had a lift I used to use passed away.
So, I am on my own lifting the front end of my 69 Cuda to get underneath it. I know to use jack stands, but where do you recommend putting my floor jack. I am thinking dead center under the front of the motor on the cross member.
I am asking because I have never raised this car before and don't want to screw it up!

Thanks so much in advance!!!

That's how I lift my 67 and haven't had problems with it so far. Might want to put a piece of wood between if you're worried about denting the k frame

The K frame is wide enough to put a jack in the center and still put two jack stands under it. Or if that's in your way, the front subframe rails are a good spot for jack stands.

Only lift your car on level ground.

Hook the floor jack cradle on the lower edge at the center of the K-member. Lift the car 1/2" and give the floor jack a tug or two. It should not slip off the K member. Once you are sure it is hooked and centered, carefully raise the car.

You should be able to put your jack stands under the front K-member bolts so they are hooked on the bolt head and captured by the box of the K-member front mount. Carefully lower the car onto the jackstands. Make sure all the legs of the jackstands are in contact with the ground.

The car should be very stable even if shoved hard or don't go under it. You can leave the jack under the K-member as added insurance, but be sure most of the pressure is released and it is still touching and hooked on the lowest part of the center of the K-member.

-- Yep !!

I generally use the frame rails as the point for jack stands since I'm working on the front end or around the K frame itself.
And I like a piece of wood between the K and the jack saddle.
A piece of 2X6 if soft wood or similar if hard wood.
