Ford to focus on Trucks and SUVs???

Found on road dead....
All I can say is Ford is still a "American" company, it did not take government bailout money, and it still makes some products that I am interested in purchasing. That is why, for a "daily driver", I own a Ford and I have for many years. Of course, with these latest corporate announcements, that last part could change.

I'm on my third F-350 each of the previous two had over 200k miles before I traded them in. Spent there lives pulling heavy and bouncing down oilfield roads. You cant convince me to buy any other truck but a Ford diesel.

I have an awesome ford truck, 2017 F350. And a not so awesome 2016 Ford Edge sport, with a bad transmission in the shop as we speak. Needs new under warranty.

By far the best truck I have ever owned/Driven and I had them all. Ram, GMC, Ford. All equel price/trim levels and all modern. 2014 and newer

That's typically the kind of statement you get from people that use there trucks to get groceries, anybody who's ever pulled anything with a Ford diesel wouldn't make a statement like that.
This new 6.7 Power stroke will out tow anything on the market now. I Guaranty it! Numbers don't tell the complete story. With the fifth wheel in the picture, flew up the Ike tunnel road in Colorado at 70 MPH. Flew by everything. Ford does make a great truck. Of course IMO.

We have a new Fusion as a loaner car while they are working on my Edge, Not much too it. Good transportation. That's it. SE trim level. 2.5 4 cylinder. Gutless.

They are taking a big hit over the clutches in fwd stuff. I have two friends with newer focuses. Each one has had the clutches replaced 3 times.

They all have there problems, I bought my daughter a 2017 focus for collage, after a few thousand miles it devolved an oil leak. (valve cover gasket). Ford promptly repaired it. Point being you show me a vehicle line that has zero problems and Ill show you a real unicorn. The fact is that 90% of these issues boil down to quality control, not design flaws.

Mine is a '17 Fusion Sport with the 325 hp 2.7L V6. Also it has AWD. Fast and good looking. The SE you got is the gutless stripper "fleet" car. Too bad they don't rent/loan out the good ones. Your opinion would be very different!

fusion has that "automatically shifted manual transmission"?

The Edge sport in the shop has the 325 HP 2.7 V6 AWD. It is a GREAT vehicle. Except the trans issue. Only complaint is the gas mileage.

...or was that focus?

This is a known issue with he transmissions. The fact that they haven’t been able to permanent fix the issue after a combined SIX tries tells me that this is more than quality control. There is actually a class action law suit out right now over these clutch packs.

............all I know is around here there is a TREMENDOUS amount of pickups and SUVs, so "cars" are for sure in the minority. "Soccer Moms" etc. There's also a tremendous amount of them that look like an outhouse on wheels.........

Sometimes, I can't tell the difference...........

If you want to just bash Ford then fine, be my guest, but if you want the facts on reliability just do a search all the manufactures have vehicles on the list Chrysler and Chev with more then Ford. And by the way if you wanna talk worst reliable newer car and clutch problems just look up the Fiat 500. The owners of Chrysler, and where is the Eco diesel Ram? Or should I say fiat Diesel in what should be an AMERICAN truck. I just cant find any justification for bashing Ford. My brand loyalty stops at the borders.

I've had two Ford trucks over the years. First was a hand-me-down '69 F250 with a 390 that carried 9.5' cabover camper during early family vacations. Never had a problem with it and took it some places (without the camper) that it should never have gone. Eventually sold it to my brother-in-law who continued to drive it for several years.
Second was a '77 Ford F250 SuperCab with a 460 that I bought brand new shortly after our daughter was born since we needed the extra room the SuperCab offered. That was also an excellent truck that carried the same camper on some vacations and then transitioned to pull a 32' 5th-wheel when the family grew and we needed more room. The only peculiarity of the 460 was it got the same 8-10 miles to the gallon whether the truck was empty, loaded with the camper, or towing the 5th-wheel. Again, it was an excellent truck. I eventually gave it to my son as his first vehicle when the truck was 20 years old and he drove it for several years.
Bought a used '95 Dodge Ram 2500 Club Cab with a V-10 in 1997 and used it as both daily driver and to pull the same 5th wheel on vacations. The only problem with the Ram was the transmission that was rebuilt once at about 50,000 miles. Sold that truck a few years ago to a fellow club member who continues to drive it in his business and has had no problems with it.
Current truck is an '09 Dodge Ram 1500 that I love. Bought it used and haven't had any problems with it.

I’m not bashing Ford. I have never owned any brand besides Ford for my entire life with the exception of my Dart. The same can be said for my dad with the exception of his current company car as well as my three closest friends. Nothing but Fords. I am stating that they should have never let the “powershift” clutches ever leave the line. It was a huge mistake.

They all have plenty to bash. I agree that Fiat owning Dodge sucks and think that they should stay with Cummins. That is why most people bought a Dodge diesel.
