I vaguely remember a beer run in that beast! !

There are many women that have said that too... :D
Yeh, there were/are some pretty hot little Vegas around. I mean they gotta weigh just north of nuthin...So put any kinda power in and hold on. :steering:

I used to build models of those Vega drag cars back in the 70's... :steering:

Those were popular bodies at the race tracks back in the day...

Just stopping by, stepdad's memorial was today, being a minister he planned it himself, friends young and some very old filled the chapel, and spoke at the reception, Mom said it was not difficult. Thunderstorms all evening so we relaxed with my uncles instead of going to another planned gathering, which would have been too much.

I’m almost done getting all the fishing gear from the trip squared away. Since it was all used in saltwater, I have to rinse it all down with fresh water and let it dry completely before giving it all a light spray of WD-40. This also includes everything in the tackle boxes.

It’s a lot of work, but necessary to keep it all in good working order.

I’m glad it was a peaceful time and that it was comfortable for your Mom (as much as it could be).

So, I never told the last fish story of the Vacation...probably because even I almost don’t believe it actually ended this way.

On the last day when I caught the most amount of fish, I was down to my last minnow and had just put it on the hook when my wife and daughter came home from the beach and interrupted me. They were telling me how their day was and asking me how the fishing was...and it totally broke my concentration.

I told them I was on my last minnow and just go rinse off from the beach and I would talk to them later. I cast the minnow out, but the line snagged and it dropped short of where I wanted it to be. There was also a knot in my line so I needed to fix it before reeling back in. As I cleared the knot, the line pulled...and my last minnow was gone.

I was a bit sad that it was ending that way, but still happy about the many fish I had caught.

As I sat there contemplating the end of the fishing, I noticed a small half dried out minnow on the dock that was nearly bitten in half. It must have come from an earlier fish that I had landed, shaking it off the line as I pulled it in.

I thought, well why not try to use it? So I dropped it into the water of the bait bucket for a few minutes for it to soften up a bit.

Then I put it on the hook and cast it back out. 5 seconds later, the line screamed and I caught the biggest fish of the day....unfreaking believable!

A perfect end to a great vacation! :)

Glad to inspire you to get some. It’s kinda funny how we live so close to where we can get them...but often don’t decide to go and pick some up.

The big last fish is in the last photo...All the way on the left :)

Are we playing the 'one of these fish is not like the other' game again? Oh goody, I love that game!

I could walk there. Less than a mile from my house. There is the little detail of cost. $49 for the doz med/lg I ate today. Not a cheap meal...

Wow, that’s pricey! I guess the wife owes me $150 for the ones I caught for her.

I think I will take it out in trade...

As tomorrow is the last official day of my vacation, I am looking back at the time on the water and I am reminded of a famous quote..

“And the sea shall grant each man new hope...and the promise of a better home.”

I hope that remains true as I return to the madness of work and gives me the strength to find my “better home” away from that place.

I saw in myself something far better that all of that during the 2 weeks of contemplation while fishing...and the sea responded by giving me all I asked...as if to confirm my thoughts.

My internal compass has been righted, my strength of will returned...and may God help those that get in the way of my path forward.

I am restored.

Good early morning.
Well went to the car show yesterday, following a buddy with his truck and trailer, a two hour drive.
Pull the ramp down and unhooked my car. My tennis shoes were wet due to the wet tall grass they had at the site. As I walked up the ramp towards the rear of the car I started to reach for something and both feet went out from underneath me resulting in a hard fall on the ramp. I don't know if it was the sudden fall, the angle of the ramp, or both, but I fell hard dislocating my right shoulder. This is the third time in 20 years I've dislocated it.

I had my buddy tie my car down. I walked around for an hour thinking I could pop it back in which I did last time. Wasn't going to happen this time.
Since I was two hours from home, wife was even farther at her Mom's, I had the local ambulance take me to the hospital 20 minutes away. There the ER Doc had it popped back in in about 30 seconds. The sharp pain was gone, now just weak, stiff, and sore. It will be a few weeks based on experience before I feel 100%.

Sat at the hospital three hours and Cheryl showed up. She drove back to the show, visited with the people who'd offered help. I got in the truck and drove home with Cheryl following. My neighbor helped unload the car, and he put it in the garage. He rode with me, and helped put the truck and trailer in storage.

So up in the middle of the night hungry. Guess I'm feeling better. Needless to say not doing too much the next few days and let it heal. I'll probably go in to my civilian ortho and have him take a look.

Think I'll put a couple 24" wide traction strips on the ramp floor. Don't want to do this ever again.
