Is it LEGAL????

-
Is it legal to sell a VIN + fender tag + core support + trunk lip + package tray

NO NO NO - I DO NOT HAVE AN ILLEGAL CAR!!! <or> nothing like that

I saved it from a salvage yard but no title.

I was told - "sell the (above mentioned items)" BUT I'm thinking that couldn't be legal right?

I would sure like "the pros" opinions on this matter
FOLKS - I could get title easy nuff like I said already. It's not about that at all. I just SIMPLY wanted opinions of was it legal, most had good responses whether i liked or agreed - I appreciate your comments - i really do

Constructive criticism is something totally different than attacking someones character.
MOST of the folks that "attack" online would never do it in person - what does that say about their character?

wow! he posting on cl... yeah i think

I do not get upset when someone says something "I don't like". When they treat me like an idiot or insult or accuse or attack... yeah then I get upset. You might be right. I might not wanna be here very much longer... starting to see what the folks are like around here... I do not treat folks badly and do not want to be treated badly, but I will always defend. Thanks for your reply
Well so far I've been on a couple forums and by far this is one of the nicer forums and more, much more informative. Remember you're talking to a bunch of men and a car crowd. Even now I got to cover my tracks and mention that there are women or else income all the nitpickers. Try going on some of the other car forms or maybe you have. Or better yet try going on a snowmobile forum! LOL
I'll will be closely watching how that defend defend defend attitude works for you. If you stay long enough you'll see how it turns into a Let it go Let it go Let it go....lol
Honestly I think you need to stop thinking about ways to steal cars... bahahaha:poke:

I see you are a newbie.:)
There is no single answer to this.
There is no good answer to this.
Have you "removed" a VIN?
Most people don't know what the applicable law says.
Most people couldn't make sense of the law if they read it.
And that includes the bureaucrats.
Remember, there are both federal and state laws.
I'm betting other than the people reading this, most people don't care what you do with them as long as you don't commit .....gee I hate to throw that word around.......fraud.
If someone wants to make absolutes, that's fine.
I'm not a lawyer.
And that would not mean much even if I was one.
No I have not removed the vin, it is still attatched to the dash.

STEAL CARS? My next post was gonna be What's the quickest way to hot wire MY car. Maybe not now, lol:lol:

All right now that we have you calmed down a little bit if you really want the true answer grab your parts and walk into the police station or your local DMV. Or you can always fall back on the the fact that we all internally know the difference between wrong and right and if you've done it on the up-and-up and have receipts for everything especially all the other parts. I couldn't imagine you having receipts for every single part that you have except for the parts you have in your hand and not being legal?

Now if you bring all those parts into the police station and you end up in handcuffs LOL you don't know me!

I might not wanna be here very much longer...
Not everyone here is a dick, most are good people who want to help out fellow enthusiasts. I cant speak to the legality of re-bodying a car or the ethics I can only raise a question. What percentage of a car can one replace before it is no longer the original car?

I had a 56 Ford Pickup. I built a new frame, new suspension, replaced the cab and all of the other sheet metal. Is it a re-body or a highly modified original vehicle?

I see no reason why you cannot sell the items you have listed, but I would believe it would sell better if there was a title with said items. Why would I want to buy your items with no title, with the intent of doing what with them? The CL seller was right upfront with his items and clearly his intent was for, “for collector purpose only”. If I purchase the items from Mr. CL, and used the items he had on a donor car of mine that had no title, I would say I would be wading in gray waters.

Sell the shell with the mentioned parts attached to it. You never know what somebody else is willing to tackle for a project.........and like said earlier........what happens afterwards is not your problem.

Maybe I missed it, but is it a 340 car?

I have the whole car! Minus motor and tranny and rear end and a few parts that were removed before I got it. It's been sitting directly on dirt for 15 years, the frame is shot. If it wasn't I would get kansas antique title. And if I didn't have a lick of morals I would do as some suggested and just put them on another car. I just can't do that, at least not until I steal me a good body somewhere, ummm hey j par - where do u park yer cars at? But I thought if it was legal I might consider selling them, don't know if I could or not. But it did make me think - can I legally sell them? I have been very impressed with most of the folks here as I have read many posts in the last week or so. I thought I would ask the experts - finding out DON'T ASK QUESTIONS HERE.... just "steal" their valuable info from the different threads - be like a ghost - SURF BUT DON'T SPEAK... and yes I defend, I won't soften to the point - ooo well whatever... I figured out easy way to make it stop without me getting so upset... just use the ignore button... ALSO FOLKS! ----> If I was planning to intentionally do something illegal why the hell would I announce it??

LMAO.... yes 73 dart sport 340.LM29H3..that's why it's hard to just trash what's left, but I didn't wanna do something illegal but you do make a good point about the shell, great response I never thought of that, thank you ... in kansas i can legally buy and sell cars pre 80 with a simple bill of sale.... I love it when folks educate me and get me to thinking....

there are a few things that get people riled up on here.
anything to do with titles or vins
Putting any engine other than mopar in your mopar
talking about painting your engine bay black
cutting up or parting out a 340,383,440 car
asking what headers to use
which stall torque converter should I buy
mopar purple shaft cams
lope sound with 8-1 compression
any wheels larger than 15"

FORGET I ASKED

First do a title search, you might have to go to the main BMV.
You have to have a title if you don't and you rebuild it someone with that title can just take it from you and they don't even have to say thanks for the rebuild

I combined 2 of them in one post... but heck... tell me honestly and bluntly... they dont hafta be so dam mean and attack my character sheessshhh... I guess when I spoke of 2 riled up items at once made it even worse to the point they felt like I had just physically slapped them in the face.... you help me better understand thanks a bunch for that.... greatly appreciated

to address a couple things you mentioned here first of all the bottom thing about intentionally doing something illegal and posting it out here... You have no idea how stupid people are apparently. I don't think it was 6 months ago we had some new guy on here posting his address saying how nobody ever steals anything and how his doors are always open! also it was in the middle of nowhere where nobody could see anybody doing it. Lol
unfortunately I live in the city so most my cars are in the driveway or in the garage I don't have room for spares. And I can tell you without even asking my wife is happy about that.

Now ask us a question we can really sink our teeth into like how many ford guys does it take to put in a Chevy spark plug?

WHO CARES!!!!!

This is EXACTLY what i would do.
Just wash your hands of it and you will face no legal malarkey.................

I Ain't real bright. Whoever attacked anyone's character in this thread?

I agree I have been on alot of forums and this is by far the most laid back! Get on a gun forum you wanna talk a out some snobby a$$holes!!
To the OP just calm down it's all good brother dont get offended so easy it's easy to misunderstand what ppls intentions are thru texts. I have done it myself!

It is neither ethical nor legal.

The link below will take you to a thread on another site & you can follow along on the play by play.

The short version is that a guy bought a tag & title via Ebay & used them on his car. When the car came up for sale, it was confiscated & the title voided & the 'donor' VIN removed.

Ebay does have rules against selling them as well, but every once in a while the sales go through.
