Turning radius reduced.

Does grinding the nub off cause other clearance issues? There had to have been a reason why they cast that in there, right?

I'm glad I found this thread, I did the same front brakes conversion to my '70 and always felt like the turning radius was too big... i'll be taking a look at those nubs for sure, also check for clearance issues if the wheels are turned farther from the mod

Well, you have to carefully measure the nubs, then grind some and try turning the wheels back and forth & grind some more. It's trial and error. You can always take more off, but as a wise old friend of mine used to say "I don't know how to cut on".

Well I found the problem, it's not the nub....

The bracket for the caliper is hitting.

Calipers are rear mounted. Do they need to be on the front? If I switch em to the front the soft line wont reach?

Are these upper control arms even on the correct side?
Pic is passenger side.

Thanks for all the help.

Looks like the control arms are correct. I usually tell by where the bump stop hits on the flat spot of the control arm. You can mount the calipers on front and use the longer brake lines. I believe my brake lines are from an Aspen. I'm sure other will chime in on what applications have the longer lines to front mount the brakes.

Yep. Calipers should be front mounted.

Anyone got a year, make and model for the brake lines that work when front mounted?

Thanks again.

That's the hose I already have and I'm pretty sure it wont reach?

I'll have to flip the spindles side to side correct?
Then I'll see if the hoes fits.

Yes, after you swap sides with the spindles, essentially you'll have the stock '73-up disc brake setup. As long as the brake line hard end is at the same spot on your car as later ones, it should be fine. Just check that the hose doesn't go past it's limits throughout the suspension and steering travel.
