Man, that's an opportunity to score, right there! That's funny!

LMFAO I was a MAC dealer for almost 3 decades. I was never a top 100 Distributor because I wouldn't bury people in debt. The competition was good at that. We had some guys that had come from the Snap On organization. They said the dealers were trained to "lock up the customers pocketbook" so they didn't have any money to spend on the MAC truck. Just sayin'

I always liked Mac tools better anyhow. And the older Mac toolboxes aren't spacewasters like the Snap-on's.

I heard that a lot. If you build a box that wastes space you will have to trade up for a bigger one.

We had a new auto shop teacher that bought snap-on tools for the auto shop. Must have spent his entire budget on 4 sets of sockets.

During my misspent youth I was a ride mechanic (seasonal) at the amusement park near me. There were two full time mechanics that had all snap-on tools, I remember every pay day the snap-on truck would roll by to collect payments from those guys. And one guy kept trying to get me to buy the tools and say he referred me

I will freely admit the wrenches are way better than craftsmen. And sorry Mike never had a chance to use Mac

I don't know your age, but could that amusement park been "Frontier Village" ?

Back in 1989 I bought a new Mac box, the biggest one he had. I had priced a KR1000 top and bottom from SnapOn but he was over 2K more.
As it happened the snapon rep. was on the truck with the driver the week I took delivery of the Mac box.
By the time it was allover they put a new KR1000 top and bottom in my shop and two hundred dollars in my pocket and loaded up the new Mac box. I was the first one in the aira to have that style of box. I payed Mac for my SnapOn box.
I will add that SnapOn replaced the box under warranty because of paint falling off ten years later. Then ten years later they replaced all the casters under warranty along with some of the slides.
They have stood behind it very well.

I've replaced some screwdrivers that had to be over 40 yrs old and the handles were brittle and fell apart when I twisted them. Also replaced a 1/4" drive ratchet that I bought at a yard sale many years ago. The gears where getting stripped. They do stand behind their stuff but so do the other suppliers now. Lifetime on most tools.

Just for kicks, did you pay the Mac man in full for the box?

I get along very well with my snap on dealer. and i dont owe him any money. Have a nice scan tool he financed. Its long ago paid for. Told me a few months ago i was good for 20 grand if i needed it. Almost sprung for a new hoist. Nah! My hoist is good enough.

Anybody ever had a dealer just disappear?
I had a new guy start up and run for six months then poof he was gone. I owed him over 200 bucks and I never heard from him again. Nothing nota zip.

Last year, I was at a HOG Rally in Johnson City, TN. They had set up a VIP tour for us. Now that I have seen how the tools are made along with all the QA's that go along with the forging, machining and testing, I will be upgrading to Snap-On Tools over the next few years. It'll be worth it in the long run. Their product is worth it to me.
