Tame my 4-speed Stroker....

LOL... you got me wrong. I think it's great you showed pictures and all. That's awesome. I'm just trying to understand. If I get another clutch car, and I race it, I would want to "drive" the 4 speed per say. Not have a half-a-matic. Honest to goodness, I recently drove a 12 second Camaro with a six speed manual, and I left wide open without 3 ft of black marks. I'm not being sarcastic. Just trying to understand.

Not look'n to derail your thread. If I installed a clutch tamer, I would have no issue answering the question. Answers could be "I bracket race and looking for consistency" or the such. If you can't drive worth a hoot, that's a legit answer too. I was only asking. Carry on! :)
 
There's a guy at Woodburn who races hole in the hood. He has a Corvair LOL with a front-mounted straight axel engine bosting a dual quad blower.. we lined up a couple years ago and had one hell of a close-run.. as always I walked over and shook his hand and thank them for the good run. he's an old-timer and has been doing this for a seriously long time and has a couple cars set up very optimal... I was very proud of the Kudos he gave me for giving him such a close run with a 4-speed...
I don't ever see myself doing this any other way...

I guess for me that was always the skill of driving a clutch car. Leave the line, knowing when to ride the clutch a little to keep the tires from smoking.

Yeah... I ran high 1.50s low 1.60s with my 73 340 4sp... but that was a while ago and when you add a 4” crank and a solid roller and 300 cfm ported W2s and Mcleod RST and spool and drag radials... its worth spending 180$ and a little time trying to prevent breaking the aforementioned parts.

Thanks for answering why you are installing one. So your leg combined with your intensity was a little aggressive and abusive on parts. Fair enough.
 
The obvious problem here is human error... I know there's no one that's going to come out here and just plain out say that they're perfect and can slip the clutch perfectly on give days on given tracks with given conditions. It's a tool like a trans brake a two-step, or anything else..
 
Last weekend at a big Ford vs Buick event, one of my 'tamer customers went 10.34, 10.32, 10.30, 10.36. Final round slip was 10.362 @ 127.89 with a 1.415 60' for the win.

Another 'tamer customer was out testing some 26x8.5 radials on his Mustang, 10.09 @ 128.98 with a 1.334 60'

Yet another had just installed my new all hydraulic system on his C6 Corvette. He got 5 1.43 60's in a row but didn't get a full pull due to power cut problem. Turns out the car's torque management system cuts the power output until a clutch pedal switch senses the pedal has fully returned after a shift. Next time out he's going to tape the switch down.

Did I mention Pat Norcia of Ram Clutches just picked up one of my new hydraulic systems for a 2019 Mustang :)

All the above cars have diaphragm PPs.

Actually I have a 3 step Daytona Sensors CD-1
So I got that covered.

And yes the Tamer is being used to overcome my inability to modulate the clutch perfectly... its like the little blue pill for clutches !

I hope the pedal doesnt get any harder though...lol
 
wait a minute what am I saying don't buy one of these things they're junk they don't work! LOL I want to be the only one using it..
 
Instead of going to the Final Four in 4-speed class at the Mopar Nationals again , next year I want to be in the final round. If this word gets out my competition might have one too...

Got it! For them, consistency for bracket racing is a must. Please understand, I think your product is great. I just seen it more of a bracket racer item for consistency rather than a street car. But I'm sure both can benefit. I understand "what" it does. Trying to see the "why" for each person.

That's not what it does. It slows down the pedal. Doing that changes the application of the clutch.

You do the same thing (and more) if you do it with an adjustable pressure plate. So it doesn't make it a half automatic.

Again, I've been screaming this for years. If you don't control the APPLICATION of the clutch, you'll go slow and break parts. It's that simple.

You can't be consistent doing it with your foot. That's why you need a two step and either an adjustable clutch or the CT.

I'd rather do mine with the clutch. You have more flexibility doing it with the clutch, and the pressure ring is always fully down against the disc.

I forgot you are using drag radials. I don't think a CT or an adjustable clutch will help you with radials.

I haven't checked in a couple of years, but most guys is Stock are still running bias slicks.

There are some sticks running radials, but not sure how successful they are. If they ever let the FSS guys run a clutch, then we'll get some technology to use radials and sticks.

Slow the clutch down, keeping the rpm's up. So technically, it's another way to accomplish an adjustable pressure plate. Gives it the same function as a, per say, 8" converter?

Technically...no. An adjustable PP doesn't slip the clutch, per se. The pedal is all the way out. The CT controls the speed at which the pedal comes out.

That's two different things. But if guys for whatever reason want to run a diaphragm PP the CT is the on,y way I know of to control the application of the clutch.

Why the love for that PP I have no idea. Other than cost, there is no reason to run that PP. That and idiotic class rules.
