I have the same problem when it rains. Once the house gets to a certain point I can put in a carport at least.

I swear the battery in my SRT dies just about every 4 years like clock-work. Today I went to start it and it only had 11.1 volts. I still got it started, but I know it's time for a new battery since the last time I last drove it was a week ago and it was fully charged. Charging system is fine.
The car is now over 13 years old and the last battery was around 4.5 years ago in late June of 2015.
The original battery died 49 months after it was new. The second battery died 51 months later. This one has lasted 52 months and is ready to die. Funny how a 48 month battery dies almost exactly on schedule.
Run and start duty doesn’t seem to matter. The car saw 40k miles in the first 2 years and only 10k miles in the past 2 years.
I suppose I will replace it and be good to 2024.

If you guys ever saw 4” of snow, it would be a major disaster. Besides the snow, just imagine all those Summer tires turning to hard plastic hockey pucks in the below freezing temps.
And to add to it, no ability to clear the roads with plows or salt.

All my batteries are made in the US. Exide is not anything better.
Re-read what I stated, start and run time has never made any difference on battery life across the past 13 years. My charging system works perfectly, and always has. 12.1 to 12.5 volts measured directly from the battery is perfectly normal...and fully charged on an older battery.
It’s when it drops below 12 volts that you know it’s failing.

Yeah that would have been nice, but did triple my investment in a week. That part is nice, it still a bit of remorse as I have only ever seen one in my life and it was at the Garlits Museum of Dragracing.

When i worked at the ford dealer, we had a run of frozen batteries on the new car lot. replaced a bunch of them.
I brought one home after it thawed and i recharged it.
9 years in my old cockshutt tractor before it croaked.

And last like you would expect.
Canadian tire and wally world batteries are the worst, followed by interstate.

Last day of the show. It’s been a great one for sure. We were judged yesterday and scored a 986 out of 1000. First time being judged like that. Learned a lot. I’m happy with the score and will use the notes from the judges to make it a little better. All are easy fixes.

Old Diehards were awesome. Don’t know how they are now. I guess they are still around? I was in Lowes yesterday and see they have more Craftsman than Sears did in the last 10 years. Didn’t take notice if they hade the Diehards
Rural kings have a short life span as well.
The best brand I’ve found to date as far as longevity is Deka. We’ve converted to all deka in everything. Usually get 8-10 years out of a car battery, tractor batteries 10-15 years.
Sold deka years ago. They are really good.
