M codes are 69 only
Rusty/rlc.. did the '68's actually have an "M" in the VIN after they were sold from Mr Norm?
So, it would read "LS23M"8"...?I am very aware of the M being in the vin . The fifth digit. For 68 and 69 a-body’s. But in 68 there were M- code dart. There were only 48 or 50 made. So if you know anyone with a 1968 GSS m- code dart . But remember it will have to have a M in the vin tag. Here is what it will look like
LS23M
So Mr Norm had VIN's specially assigned to him only, with an "8" in the year location?Yes they were sold by MR Norm .
These are not Mr Norm cars these are Chrysler GTS 440 cars made by Hurst with wheel well headers only 6 made.I don't know if they all were sold my Mr. Norm. The Bee leaver that Ron Mancini drove and the GTS that Landy had were both M code Darts. Reggie Jackson had one in his collection before one of his storage buildings burnt down.

Good question. M code is listed in my Galen books a "special order" for 68 and 69. There are 48 LS23M8B 440-4 68 Dart GTS's listed as " Mr.Norms GSS". No Mr. Norms GSS's listed in 69. No other 440 powered Darts listed for 68.Well this is starting to make some sense to me. A buddy sent me pics 5-6 years ago of a friends 68 dart and swore it was an M code. I told him that only 69 were Mcodes. I was wrong...again.
I cant remember if he sent me a pic of vin or fendertag with the M in it.
Would M be in fendertag for 68 or 69?

No problem. A lot of great questions and interesting information. I switched the discussion here to be fair to @rlcbit. I didn't know if I could even do it but it worked out ok.Sorry TMM...I really do know better...just got caught up in the discussion and forgot it was a wanted ad...Flog me with a wet noodle if you must!...LOL
Steve/TMM...that was kinda my question. I have always thought that an "M" designation for an A body could only be for a '69 Dart/ 'Cuda. Over the years, I've heard mention of '68 "M" codes. My question has been (which I've never gotten a proper answer to) is "Did Chrysler issue factory VIN tags with an "M" as the engine digit in 1968 specifically for Mr Norm's cars?...and were '68 Barracud's included?
