Stop in for a cup of coffee

So...went to put new u joints in the Duster today and the driveshaft is cracked where the cap goes in....F$#@!!! Anybody ever had luck welding this up or is it a lost cause?

That's goofy, I got a starter relay off another 1974 A body but I don't have enough wires on this car :realcrazy:

Ok, this just pisses me off!

Put a frozen veggie lasagna in the upper wall oven and 15 mins later, it goes into thermal runaway melting the plastic cover off the lasagna and scorching the top.

My daughters says “something smells funny” and I get to the oven to find it locked and displaying code E2 F3. I killed the power and it unlocked. Manual says the code means “over temperature detected”. Checked on line and it looks like the upper temperature sensor failed.

Meanwhile, what was supposed to be dinner is now a charbroiled ice block with melted plastic on top. :BangHead:

That blows! Same oven you put a new element in?

Take it to a driveshaft shop.
Welding it may distort it.

So, you'd think letting air freely flow through a moving object would cancel or reduce the effects of the friction made from air molecules.

So that being said, you'd think they would try a hollow car that is hollow as much as possible around the passenger compartment and let the air flow through it rather than over it to improve braking distance and improve aerodynamics.
If its hollow where do the people sit?
But really..., How does that help braking? Would be just the opposite. If their is less wind resistance. It would take more brake resistance to stop.:steering:

what about the air pushing it from behind when its trying to stop.

Its actually replacing air displaced in a vacuum behind the car

I guess today was a show of car building reality here at RDA.

Instead of getting the car started like I thought I would, ended up in a dead end because of the starter.
There is soooo much that needs addressed on this car its overwhelming. Things are usually more overwhelming than they have to be when its the end of the day. Maybe the car's way of saying to go get rested up and it will be there.

So many problems keep popping up but I am FAR from giving up …...will I give up, NEVER

It just means more money and more time ARRRGGGH

What years are trying to mix and match?
'76 is way different than early 70s. '74, '75 usually closer to '72 but exactly waht was differetnt those years need to study the diagrams or the car itself... Puzzle time!

came off a 1974 valiant and put on a 74 duster. I didn't think it would be any different but DANG!!!

Any reason you have to use the Denso starter?
You must have at least one of the Chrysler built ones kicking around!

yea, I was avoiding using a Chrysler one because I would like to phase the Chrysler units out and replace them with the denso units on the entire collection. Just to get it started I might resort to using a dinosaurous starter Rex

Air has mass.aerodynamics are a complicated thing.
For air mass, have you ever had a helium balloon in the car?
Speed up, balloon goes forward, slow down it goes backwards in the car. The air is sloshing around in the passenger compartment.

local charter air service, uses float planes in the summer. They tie boats and things to the rigging under the aircraft. Pointy end of a boat has to go backwards.

they tied a bedspring to the rigging. Almost crashed the plane during take-off. Went back and wrapped the frame in a tarp and it was fine. All that air trying to flow through the bedspring caused a massive amount of turbulence and drag.

Well then it shouldn't be that different.
Possibilities are some California vs 49 state difference emmissions related thing. Unlikely.
Early vs late production seatbelt interconnection thingamajig. possible
Something different about the duster vs valiant powerwise. (optioned differently) minor possibility.

Put pics up of both if you can,

The duster was missing the starter relay so I have no way of knowing what was there.

The Duster was bought from another FABO member and he doesn't know much history of the car but it seems someone used it as a parts car at some point because a lot of small items were missing.

Starter relay
Starter
engine wiring harness
Throttle bracket and cable
gas pedal
alternator and brackets
A/C compressor
front engine pulleys
Front and rear bench seats

those items were all missing

Yep. Now I know why the element burned out. Temp sensor is bad and caused the upper element to go into overheat. Previous owners were total POS monkeys and abused the hell out of everything in this house. No wonder the upper oven never right worked when we moved in.

Aerodynamics is just a low viscosity branch of fluid dynamics. It’s actually quite interesting stuff that makes a lot of sense once you understand it.

Think of it this way...Pressure on the front resists you, lower pressure on the back pulls you backward.

(actually, it makes the front resistance greater pushing you backward harder).

I was watching the news earlier, talking about evacuating foreigners released from quarantine from some Asian land.

This or one resembling it was on the tarmac. :D

Morning!
Busy week coming up.front end to assemble on buddy’s square body. Pulled it apart a few weeks ago,all cleaned up and painted, new parts ready to go in with 4” drop spindles. Its going to be low. One bad bolt i need to pull motor mount to get to.
