Dual quads versus big hammer!!!...

NASA we have Lift-Off! LOL...
One of the last tricks I had up my sleeve has been sitting on my bench for damn near a week now waiting for some good weather. It was a set of 58-50 metering rods for the rear carburetor to go along with the 58-44 metering rods in the front. After I warmed the car up and had the timing reset maybe one degree more could be part of the help but it pretty much lost all of its hesitation if not all of it. I feel if I say all of it I'm going to jinx myself somehow.. but it felt great very responsive and again no stumbling...
(I had a little thoughts world through my head that these are better than the Edelbrock shocks as I was pulling around my neighborhood to get back home)
I believe I still have to get the rear doors open faster and or try leaning the secondaries... I do have one step leaner secondary Jets waiting in the wings, but those are ultra easy because they're Holley's.. this is just because of the lower numbers that I see on my 02 gauge... Seat of pants it's hauling butt...

When I say one of my last tricks up my sleeve I meant this was without having to go DEFCON 5 and start making my own parts...

I got to say it was a great feeling the other day when I got the nitrous solenoids to click.. it had been a lot of research and development LOL and finally everything worked out.
BUT, having those carburetors work today correctly after having them for three or four months now was really a great feeling...

I think the key here was not giving up on them and continually trying new things. I have about eight different stages written down and I know I have three or four more that I didn't write down...
In the end here I'm going to have to write down the final calibrations and start in on the secondaries and see if I can get them a little better or if I need to leave them right where they're at..

It sounds like you're getting close.
Yes took it around for a drive and I did my normal stomp into it that low Cruise speed and it just took off! It didn't hesitate or stumble or cough or anything. I had meant to just take that short run and go back home, but I took another lap around the busy streets to do it a couple more times and nothing but acceleration... Very very happy with the way it was running...

Dual quad tunnel ram Street Demon Guru Jpar at your service and ready to answer questions...lol....

Not if he gets his cam timing correct and his cooling system is correct.

It doesn’t take a big cam, it takes the correct cam.

BTW, I’ve been doing some plug reading research and from what I’m seeing, you may be able to cut back on the race gas percentage you are using. I’d leave it the same for the fuel in the nitrous tank, but the engine only fuel is showing excessive leading.

Also, if you are still getting those little wave looking marks on the ground wire you may have a fuel stratification issue.

Easier to see in real life than in pictures though. Just an FYI.
Along with that would that lesson the smell of race gas in my garage long after the car has been shut down? You do know what it's like to walk out into the garage the next day and still smell that small tingle of race gas in the air and the feeling that takes you to the track every time?!...lol..
really though I used to use about a third and now I brought it down to about one-quarter. I could easily when I get more time this summer bring it down even more. My idea was to get those heads back from Ted and possibly put a bit of a bigger head gasket on there. I'd have to put one on that's bigger anyways to even bring it back to where it was. Or where it is. Funny thing is though I dropped them off five Mondays ago and he said he'd call me in a week or so... Nothing....

Ok, I'll try to be you and say what you'd say to me..... "Seat of the pants?? BWHAHAHAHA!!!! I mean, glad you got it running good and all that, but I mean you could have lost a 1/2 second and all that but you are claiming victory without any proof, like a ET slip. I know how you like to post and stuff how you can feel a difference and all but you don't know what it takes to drop a tenth when your at mid 12's and I know you in drag form ran mid 11's once, but now you are in street form and have no idea how hard it is to take time off a 12 second car in street form"

There, I'll let others comment/decide how close I came to mimicking a "J par to 318WR response :D :D

Bahahaha.. middle 11's once lol....
Mr. Research you do need to read...
That is all seat of the pants low RPM performance I was talking about...
You might not have heard but the tracks are closed?.. when you do your research you'll find I said that I still have wide open throttle to deal with and that will be a lot easier as the secondaries use common Holley Jets... As far as your predictions for me to go slower that is no more than a huge laugh....
I'm not going anywhere well yes I am I've got to walk the dog with my wife but this will continue I'm sure...
My last comment is I'm not worried about someone who's a body only does 13:3...

@318willrun well gee whiz willikers...
I come home from the walk and no comment damn it!... I know I didn't shut you down that easy...
Well let me pick you up part a little bit more...
I'm completely claiming victory over 2 625 Street demons on top of 2 and 1/2 inch spacers on top of a dual quad tunnel ram... Low end Street performance can only be seat of the pants...
I'm eagerly awaiting to see what they do at the track. In my wildest imagination I can't see them doing worse than those old carburetors...
Well I believe the help I've gotten here has been good and also reading quite a bit on the internet about other carburetors and the very very very little bit about these carburetors all in all it's been my own personal trial and error that's gotten me this far... if I have the slowest stroker on the forum you definitely are the king of "seat of the pants"...lol..
I love it! I've driven this car with this motor for over 5 years now and you're going to tell me I lost a half second in the quarter mile LOL by the seat of your pants from where you sit... Bahahaha....
