I know it is a bit morbid of a subject.

I'm not getting any younger, and was thinking the other day, what will come of my Dart after I'm gone.

I have two daughters, one is a into cars, one is not. Not sure either would want the responsibility of storing and maintaining my Dart. Not to mention the relitively small hoard of NOS, good used, and warn out used parts.

My hope would be that they keep it and drive it and take it to car shows and share the history. It was my dad's car he bought new.

If neither wanted to keep it, my thought would be to give (or sell for a reasonable price) it a Mopar guy or gal or an automotive museum.

What are your plans and / or thoughts?

(FYI... I'm in good health, but pushing 60, so I figure I have at least 20 years to enjoy the hell out of my Dart)

in all honestly, there is a good chance my and my mopar will die in the same accident, so it becomes a moot point

I plan on identifying an individual in my family that's into these old cars. Already have a couple that come to mind! My son's aren't really interested in cars. In the end it won't matter what happens to my cars. It's the fun and memories along the way that matter! 65'

Mine either but between 2 sons, I have one that can drive a stick and one that drives a automatic. I just happen to have 2 cars and one of each. I will be gone so what they do with them it won't matter to me.

My best hope is a non blood relative niece.

But that's a big maybe and for just one car and a car specific parts stash.
She'll also likely have my brother in law's cars and parts to deal with.

At 52, there's still time for her to have kids and our own new grandson to grow up.

Our kid(s) sure gonna have fun playing Strange Inheritance/American Pickers/Storage Wars, etc with our stuff.

While we are on the subject, what is the last car you would like to own before they take your license away? I want to work my way into a 64 Dodge. (330,440, or Polara)

Good question. My 68, I'm not sure yet. Both my boys have classics that they've had to put aside right now while they get settled in life. I'm there caretaker right now, keeping the batteries charged with a short ride now and then. I probably should get something figured out soon just in case.

My buddy just bought a 64 Polara Max Wedge clone, push button auto. The first car I bought was a 64 Polara, 318 push button Auto. Loved that car.

...but if they do their due diligence, they should come out with a fair penny or two even at below fair market value enough to sell now.

I would have hoped my son would care for my '69 Dart, drive it and enjoy it. When I first bought my project I asked if he would help me with it and he said he would because he wanted it after I'm gone, but it the years that I've owned it he hasn't offered to help with anything so far so I don't think that's going to happen.
I guess it's time to figure something out and put a plan on paper.

I've always contemplated selling both Darts and buy something like this. Modern cruising drivetrain with a/c. I know not a mopar.

I don’t give a Rats *** and don’t know what that car is except a two word description...

VERY Cool!

Back on topic....

None! No plans to who gets my stuff. The wife already claimed it!

It you don't sell it before you pass someone in the family will get it and either sell it or keep it. If they sell it they might get ripped off. If they keep it they will be saddled with either knowing how to fix (very unlikely) it OR knowing somebody who will fix it properly. The relative that gets the car will also have to be able to afford repairs. I sold my daughter's hot rod because she was getting a job 300 miles away and since I built the car I knew that no one would know all the ins and outs of how it was built. I got good money for it but never got back the money for all my hard work making it modern/safe (suspension, engine, trans, etc, etc). I still regret selling it but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!! She's driving a brand new car now with all the safety features, long, long warranty and all the bells and whistles......and I'm glad that the dealer will fix it whenever it breaks.

my wife has told me if I die with all this stuff still around the house and garage, she's gonna kill me!

something loud and obnoxious...oh wait a minute, already have the loud part. at least a face plated trans so in retirement I don't hafta use my left leg all the time for shifting.

Been wanting one of these before I die ever since I saw one laying in a field in Cheyenne Wyoming in 1974. Yes....it's a Mopar and an A body!!!:mob::poke:

Up here in Niagara Falls Canada an old fella passed and his will wanted his one owner 67 Barracuda fastback 383 4 speed mostly original "crushed". Wife and lawyers and friends got involved and the car still lives on.

an ultimate act of selfishness

I am planning on being buried in my Barracuda. Will save the money on a casket!

I have what many consider a large car collection. I have already documented and specified a few fabo members since no one understands the car sickness like some fellow members.

So if I croak soon then a few of you might be planning a trip to Colorado with your trailer.

Hopefully the next caretakers will be waiting awhile, I'm healthy as a horse and 33 years old. I hope to have a kid before I throw a rod and end up in the people bone yard but you never knew.

I have 6 boys and 2 girls plus a butt load of grand kids that would all love and take care of my car when I'm dead. so problem is I want to give it to all my kids problem is I only have one car and love all my kids.
SO I made up my mind I'm taking it with me to the grave. The kids will plant my dead body behind the drivers seat put the seat belt on me and plant me and my car nose first in the ground and the rear bumper will be the grave marker.
I know a waste of a good car but not selling it, but I built it myself and paid for it myself and gonna take it with me.
Might be a geological find in 1000 years. Lol

My 2 daughters get my collection.
I always take notes for all jobs, so its known where I leave off and whom the parts belong to and $ if any owed.. My family can figure it out and contact everyone.
Pretty dark thread...I mean..I was just saying hbd to my 90 yr old grandmother, only grandparent left..my father goes in for neck surgery the 14th... and I gotta worry about my young ***?? Let's plan, but not plan to die anytime soon, k
