The first lockdown seemed to work. The numbers weren't rising very fast. Everybody loosened up and started playing, meeting, parting, demonstrating, going to political events and the numbers started to rise, then took off like a flash.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, keep in mind, they were only testing people on a limited basis back then. Mass testing really didn’t start until mid to late summer, at least here. Prior to that, they would only test you if you went to the ER and had breathing trouble combined with a fever.
so I went to the CDC website. According to their data on April 21st, 2020, they administered 701,000 Covid tests nation wide during that WEEK. Or roughly 100,000 per day nationwide
Fast forward to the latest date from October 31st, they were averaging a daily test administration level at 653,000 per DAY over the course of the entire month.
mean while, the daily positive result rate fluctuated between 10.9 and 15.4 during the month of October, in April, the positive rate ranged between 9.8 and 16.2 daily.
seems pretty similar. The difference is, 15.4 percent of 653,000 per day is 100,000 and change. Where as 16.2 percent of 100,000 per day back in April is 16,200. So yeah, the number of cases are way up, but we’re also testing more. So it’s not a straight apples to apples comparison and really inconclusive as to where the first lock down worked or had any effect one way or the other.
CDC.gov/covid is where I got my data.
