AERA is publishing another OUTSTANDING webinar no later than Friday. It’s Randy Neil from CWT and he discusses over and under balance but he also covers a pretty good bit on harmonic resonance and dampers.

If you want to know why your crank broke or why the main saddles in the block and the main caps show fretting (it ain’t from detonation) then this webinar is for you.

I often wonder how they come to that conclusion. I have read that even mild detonation or poor combustion will loosen flywheel bolts and manifest as rpm specific vibrations leading people to think its a balance issue.

Seems the first time I heard it was in high school, and then I think the first time I read it was in Yunik’s book. I could be wrong as that was a loooooooooooooong time ago.

One of the best things was his inline 8 cylinder animation and how all the testing forces and such ended up in the snout. Very good webinar.
