Bought a house in arizona, 1/2 mile from the river. No smog checks, five years of registration at a time, for less than one in california . Over an acre, bigger house, eight car garage, four more in a covered car port, plenty of room for a pool and another garage (both planned), for a quarter of what my house in california is worth.
Its hot in the summer. Air conditioning in the house, cars, and garage, no biggie.
Nice people too.
Oh, forgot. 1/2 mile up the road, i can shoot anything i want.

An old friend of mine lives outside Kingman. He can walk across the street and be in BLM land. He likes to go make noise...

I couldn't do what you're doing on what my California house is worth. It isn't all Bay Area and LA pricing in this state.

Black lives matter land? LOL!

Actually, my place is bgslm. Black german shepherd lives matter. (See avatar).

A gunshop owner in MA? I bet they are red in the face that you are still in business! Just keep doing what your doing with your 24 forms and 50 pages of regulations needed for each gun sale and you may drive them out of town! :usflag:

We got a gun shop here and someone called them out on tweaker and said they were "instigating violence" with their gun sales. The gun buying public stepped in with some support and now there is a line around that place to get in and buy merchandise from that owner, mostly ammo I hear.

New Zealand.
They wont let anyone in without showing them the place they are staying and a ticket out. My grade school friend ended up teaching there for a few years and said it was a pretty closed society with immigration based on many factors that would disqualify about 90% of the people that US takes.

My wife and I are discussing possibility uprooting and starting over in a new state. But we can’t decide on where we wanna go. Must be a pretty free state, as in no New York’s, California’s, Illinois etc.

State needs to have car hobby friendliness and even more friendliness towards things that go boom when a trigger is pressed.
Job market needs to be fairly stable or growing, cost of living can’t be stupid high or have stupid taxes.

I’d love to move to the Dakotas or Montana, but with the snow, I doubt I could convince her. Tennessee is nice but way too many people. same with the Carolinas and anything south and East. Texas is too damn hot, Arkansas wouldn’t be bad. So the heartland is where I think we’d like to stay.

Missouri? Kansas? Kentucky?

Thoughts?

Ohio is pretty relaxed as far as car laws. We have no inspections whatsoever. Boom boom laws are pretty easygoing too. New Mexico has the most relaxed gun laws that I know of. Cost of living is reasonable. For example, the house I bought would be double in Pennsylvania.

Also, Ohio has all four seasons almost equally. Often times all four in the same day lol

We lack the beautiful scenery of the West, but we have access to the Appalachian mountains without much of a drive. Especially Southeast Ohio, bordering PA and WV.

The fam and I moved to Missouri, August of 2019, from the repressed state of Michigan. Glad we did after seeing what Fuhrer Whitmer did to that state. Missouri has quite a bit to offer if you stay away from the Democratic run cities like St. Louis and Kansas City.

Don't forget SW Mo. has Springfield, a pretty good size little city, as Right winded as you can get!!!
I spent 37 year in Mo/ Love the place, and the people. OK so one guy wanted to kick my *** because I talked southern.
He reconsidered.

I like Kansas. No stupid Classic car rules (yet); Lots of good car shows and cruise ins; good gun laws, and 4 seasons. We usually have some snow, but nothing drastic. I only used my snow blower once last year. Taxes are reasonable. And we are centrally located for easy access to just about anywhere. Look up the Auto Restoration program at McPherson College in McPherson KS. They have an annual car show that is REALLY worth going to.

Have you EVER considered Alaska? It's quite a haul to get everything up here but... We've been here since 91 and can't think of any other state we would rather be in. Yeah, shipping SUCKS and the summers are kind of short some times. But the good FAR outweighs the not so good IMHO

Bama. Been in the Huntsville area and it’s booming. You can get out to the country pretty quick. Red red red. Lived in Dallas for over 30 years glad to be out of that mess. My family lives in SEMO and that’s pretty nice.

Huntsville is on the list, my company actually is headquartered there

What company is that? I work for Abaco Systems we just got bought out by Ametek. Lots of companies relocating here. Beautiful country. Great car culture. No inspections. No titles on old cars. Real close to Tennessee. Nice people. Larry’s gun shop.

It’s an alphabet soup DoD contractor

Like others I also think Huntsville is a nice area!! I've lived in all corners of this country and a few places in between. I spent 10 yrs in Huntsville and we would have probably stayed but my 2 boys ended up living in Louisiana so we retired close to them. A concern about Huntsville is it's in Tornado alley and had some close calls there. Beautiful country and enough lakes that waterfront property is not totally out of sight.

Seems like I have lived in Tornado alley most of my life. It does get a little scary around here at times. Considering building a concrete bunker.

I’m on the northern edge of tornado alley myself . We’re over due here

I've never seriously thought about moving out of California. The politics absolutely suck, but this is home and my kids and grandkids are here, so are my parents. If my kids ever leave the state then I will think about it. The thing is that most of California is reasonably affordable and not loaded with people.
What part of california is reasonably affordable? I'm in one of the shittiest cities in california and the cost of living is outrageous.
