I traded my 2017 Tacoma for a 2022 today. they gave me $27K for the trade... the one with the broken windshield, couldn't believe it.

Trucks are holding their value.
Just this week I traded my 1500 Ram off, and got 5K more than I paid for it.

As i was typing a message around 5 this afternoon about this, I got a text, A text, not a phone call, saying they totalled my Jeep..Then asking questions, saying the odometer don't work... well, if the tow driver had shown up, when They said, he'd have a key...so I Am ACTIVELY LOOKING for a Dodge truck, in Tampa Bay, as of Now!

I have a Dana 70 from under a Cummins truck under my rat truck. Open differential.
Yeh, I was told here locally many were made that way. I was surprised. I'd think as much torque they make, that a "pozzi" (LOL) would be mandatory, even in rain, etc.

Ive been running a spool and DOT slicks for years on the street. Its fun.

In the snow and ice tho... no thanks. A locked rear end can't get out of its own way when its icy.

I wouldn't get out in anything on ice anyway. I'm dumb, not stupid. I had a spool in a Monza 2+2 with a 400 Chevy for about three years. It was no problem whatsoever. Fun as hell in the rain. lol

Before I joined the Navy, I had "Lincoln Lock", "Arc-a-Lock". "Weld-a-Lock", etc in my 57 Chev for part of one winter I think it was 66-67. LOTS of fun. You just have to "get into" "dirt track mode" but the cops don't care for it LOL We had a lot of "winter" and a lot of snow that year.

Back then a friend had a 48 Ford pu with a SB Chev, and ran slicks a lot. He had no money. One day I encountered him in a groceria parking lot. Had the slicks on the truck, I walked up he had tires in the bed with chains on 'em. THOSE tires were BALD!!

When it comes time to build my rear ends, a spool always seems to fit the budget.

Car prices are crazy too. I bought a couple year old minivan in January, prices are up about 30% for the same car now.

I drove into a dealers lot to pickup some parts. Had three salesmen rush out and hit me up about selling. 2007 2500 5.9 CTD. 330k all original. Told them not for sale. Went in and got my parts, came out to leave and I was followed by the sales manager. Offered me 19k. Told him not for sale and then he asked what number would I settle for. Told them to have a nice day and drove off.

Problem with selling is what to buy to replace it.

According to NADA, my 2021 Ram 2500 Big Horn is worth more now than what I paid for it this past April. Up here in Maine the dealerships are having a very difficult time getting inventory. Same for the Harley Davidson dealership that I work part time at, they had to start buying used bikes just to have some inventory on the sales floor. I jumped on the Ram 2500 I have because I had been looking for 2 to 3 months and all I kept hearing from the local Ram dealers was we won't have anything for 5 to 6 months. Finally a friend of mine who works at a Dodge dealership let me know that they had received a 2500 with most of the equipment I wanted, so I made a bee line to the dealership and bought it.

yup a bunch over at the tacoma forum are selling their 3 year old trucks to places like carmax for more then they paid new.. dealers all over are buying anything they can find to put on the lot... there is no way in hell i'd buy used off a lot these days.. god knows what garbage it is and you are paying new prices for that junk.

I just recently traded in my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie with 19.000 miles on it, the gave me 7k more than I paid for it

Wouldn't take a Toyota anything even if it was free and included free fuel and insurance for life

Well atleast you are entitled to an opinion about Toyota's..... I wonder why they have they longest rated ownership in the world? I have worked on enough cars in my day of throwing wrenches and the last thing I want is a problematic Daily driver in my life..... Hence why my driveway bleeds Toyota. Come to think of it, my whole family bleeds Toyotas.... To each his own....

My brother had a 2WD 92 Ram 2500 with a Cummins in it. It got stuck in my flat yard because of the dew in the grass. Believe it was limited slip.

That Cummins is heavy up there guys, plus a pickup has never had any weight in the bed unless YOU put it there!! I lived in the sticks of rural Mo. 37 years, never had a 4 x 4 but I put 400 lbs in the bed every winter. Been stuck a couple times. Yea a 4 x 4 would not have made it either.
Go figure??

The prices of UTVs are insane as well....I've been wanting to buy a new Honda Pioneer 1000 but nowadays they're sold before they show up at the dealership. My name was put on a list and about a month later the dealer called to let me know that a base model 1000, which used to be in the $10-12K range, was available for $25K.

The hills of Missouri are full of steep rocky driveways that a 2 wheel drive truck with an empty bed couldn't climb. I remember trying to make it up one such driveway in a 4X4 Cummins. It just spun the tires and kicked rocks in 2WD. No problem at all with it in 4WD and having the heavy Cummins up front.

After owning an 89 Toyota pickup and a 2001 Camry, I never thought I would want anything else. My wife's niece totalled her Camry a few years ago and we just never replaced it. And after the early 2000s pickup body style, I just never liked the looks of them anymore. Or that's what I would have bought.
