When you pay $1200 for an AAR hood, you expect more from Stinger Fiberglass

So the owner recognize that shipping companies are hard on stuff. Than why aren't they packaging items better so they don't get damaged in shipping? I also agree the fix is simple, but it will take time. You should be reimbursed for your time since you bought NEW.

actually, since i work for and ltl carrier...thats not bad at all....not acceptable but not bad.

Shitty Packaging! Shippers fault. Forklift damage...carrier.

I agree that they should’ve used much more packing, and I included that point in my email.

I bought a bunk bed setup a few years ago for when the grandkids are here. When I set to building it some pieces had minor cosmetic damage. Called Wal Mart. It took a little effort, but they refunded 10%...

Bought a hood from AMD got it a couple days ago. Driver and I looked at it, didn't see anything . Typical cardboard packing but corners were in foam blocks. Went to install it and the guy painting my car caught it right away. Handlers had dropped it on a back corner and bent it slightly.was able to fix it. They should be crated better.

I'm no body guy, but if the fiberglass couldn't hold together on those corners, isn't some putty just going to blast outta those corners about the time you think you got it all figured out, right after paint and install?

That's not the kind repair I'd want to make on a 1200 dollar air-scooper-inner.

That’s a good question, because I’m no body guy either. I was thinking short strand filler with some cloth on top, then putty and gel coat? Maybe I’ll post up in the body section and see what the experts say.

They’ll most likely recommend a proper fiberglass repair with resin and mat. It’s not hard to do.

Pretty crappy they wouldn’t refund some $ back...
I noticed that this comment drew a red X "Disagree". I am surprised one of us would disagree that the company should offer a discount if the customer fixed it himself? Should he just shrug his shoulders and forget it?

I wonder if it was just a typo.

Right. For a $1200 part. That's ridiculous it wasn't packaged better. You won't catch me ever buying from that company. Even if they end up making this right "somehow" because it all could have been avoided with the good customer service he should have gotten for buying something at a premium price.

I wouldn’t be happy even if it was $120.
I agree 100%. I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I'm mad as hell for the guy. Maybe this thread will help him out. Having a forum with over 50K members has had some pull before. He doesn't deserve to be crapped on like this.

If they do disagree, I'd say it's probably tied to the value of the fiberglass hood, given that there are much cheaper alternatives.

You spend more, you expect more

Sorry to read, I would edit the title of this thread to include "Stinger hood junk" as well as "shitty customer service".
The thread titles are caught by Google.

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to get so much attention. As I mentioned before, I thought long and hard about posting about it, mostly because I spoke with them on the phone and I chose to do the repairs myself, so some of the onus is on me. I also should clarify that the $1200 is with the cost of shipping, don't know if that changes anything. But it just didn't sit well with me how he didn't even offer something for my trouble or even an apology.

Being so close to Christmas, I don't expect to hear from them until Monday at the soonest.

"We" squawk here about condition of 50 year old used parts, but with aftermarket stuff we just kinda "take" it. Hold them accountable.
