Question on port matching

Nothing you say addresses the FACT that it was only 10 HP down @ 5600 RPM ie maximum airflow demand. Is that because it contradicts yours and others dogmas concerning what it should have made? The fact that it was only down 10 Hp against what is recognized as the best dual plane on the market for smallblock mopars is nothing less than hilarious.
Maybe just another outlier event to be ignored........Or maybe just another one of those "combo' thingy's

Because I think you are just a blow hard I should ignore your bullshit. But I’d love to see ALL the specs on that engine. All of them, not just what you think is important.

Post that up and I will tell you why it did what it did.

I explained it as simply as I could. And that teacher was an idiot. You have the discussion at the level of the student, but the goal is to get the student to learn, increase his vocabulary and to learn on his own.

Let me dumb it down some more for you. Do not make the port smaller than the head, ever. The goal is to make the port in the manifold the same size as the port in the head. If there is a mismatch, make the manifold bigger than the head, just enough to get everything else lined up.

Was that simple enough for you?

Good show!
It’s funny, I watched that webinar live. I also asked a question or two on that one.

The first example you wanted me to look at was the 351C. I suggest you go back and look at all my posts in this thread. First I will remind you we aren’t discussing the 351C or the BBC. The OP a was asking about SBM. Secondly, I said there are a few, very few scenarios where the intake can be mallet than the head. In fact, in one post I said back in the mid 90’s a guy in Arizona published an article about doing that very thing. In that case, yes it helped. But...pay attention here...had the guy used the PROPER SHAPED AND SIZED HEAD he would have made more power.

So the hypocrite is you. I answered a very specific question with a specific answer for that question. Then I suggested you watch some videos to learn. All you did (which is what the sub moronic dolt Hysteric does) was to pull one example of a time when the manifold could be smaller than the head and ran with it. It’s not even close to what the OP is working with.

Now I’m off to watch the second part of the video to see what else you’ve taken out of context.
And you still don’t get it! It’s amazing!

I just watched the second section of the video and you again didn’t pay attention. Darin said to make it line up. That’s exactly what I said. He also said that the air will shear off the sharp edge. I said that very thing. And doing that won’t cause vortices to form.

Darin says a .050 mismatch at the roof is too much and he said why. We’re you paying attention RF? I suggest not, or you still wouldn’t be arguing a wrong point.

Darin didn’t say a damn thing I didn’t say.

For the OP. Don’t do the port match unless you have a better understanding of air flow.

Also, if you use a head with ports that are poorly shaped and have too much cross section you CAN help it (its a CRUTCH for sure) by using a manifold that is smaller everywhere. That’s certainly not the right way to do it. But it’s what you do if it’s what you are working with.

Dan, if you watch all the videos I posted and you think you are ready to do some port work, I’m all for it. Other than that I say pass on it.
I like how you double back on your words. Perhaps the one that should do research is yourself on yourself. You get on hysteric but show exactly what you accuse him of all by yourself on yourself and ignore it.

Your so wound up you can even see straight!
You don’t even know what you said nevermind what I said!!!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

The question still remains unanswered by you.
Your so out of it you can’t even remember what the true question is but yet insist that your right.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tell me again !!!!

If I was any older, I’d have to change my pants out from kissing in them with laughter!!!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

You going there again? Grow up. Any beginning engine builder could build something that would show what garbage that intake is.

You know where it is there's a whole thread on it that you participated in. The fact that it was on a 340 is even funnier.....

Yup. You are unteachable. And a fool. You can’t make an argument so you throw bullshit around. Nothing in the Morgan video contradicted what I said.

People like you are why this hobby is so backwards. Any tool with a keyboard can say the most outrageous **** and get away with it. You are the shining example of that.

Post up ALL of it. I’m not dragging that irrelevant thread here so you can rub your own balls.

@Rat Bastid

What is the current parts being used and there level of miss match?

I called into question the amount of miss match.

I asked how much miss match is acceptable and it took you several days to answer. It seems Darin is OK with double your amount. Perhaps you should tell Darin to stand in front of a flow bench. Sucks for you being correct all the time huh?

Perhaps I’ll do a video on what I was referencing and about the port miss match so I can walk you through it. It might be needed since you can’t seem to comprehend what your reading.

You make arguments where they don’t exist and dream up other things that don’t belong.

What is the unanswered question to asked that I’ve already answered 12 times? I’d love to hear it. Of course without all the 3rd grade emoji’s. A sure sign of limited education and vocabulary.

Yup. You are unteachable. And a fool. You can’t make an argument so you throw bullshit around. Nothing in the Morgan video contradicted what I said.
And yet, there was a moment where they stated something that holds my point of view and amazingly, that crazy mismatch on the BBC head which many others said was super bad. But there they were saying exactly what others were saying can’t be done.

Seems like the videos you think you watched & commented in you really didn’t pay attention to AND ignore what they said unless it supported your train of thought.
People like you are why this hobby is so backwards. Any tool with a keyboard can say the most outrageous **** and get away with it. You are the shining example of that.
Actually, your doing that right now and I just showed exactly!!!!!! The very exact items why.

You’re kidding right? I already answered that 12 times. The answer is (and it’s the answer you don’t want because you can’t support your position) you don’t want ANY mismatch. Of course that is in the context of THIS thread and the question the OP asked. It has nothing to do with big block chevies or 351C engines that have a huge, slow intake port. The OP doesn’t have that.

I can’t make it any more simple than that. No mismatch is the goal. Sometimes the real world gets in the way of that. In that case, and in the case of the subject of THIS thread if you have to have a mismatch, make the port in the manifold bigger, not the other way around.

There you go. Argue away, but you’ll still be wrong, and you are edging towards being a lying troll like Hysteric. Tread lightly lest you go full lying troll.

I answered that asshole. I was staying o topic for what the OP asked.

I’d love to see some examples of the garbage port work you do. You should be embarrassed. But you aren’t.

Start a thread on BBC’s and we can talk about that. I this thread it’s about MoPars.

And let me add this. I can guarantee Darin Morgan or anyone else who has built real engines (not fantasy forum ****) would NEVER a build an engine that had a port too big and then crutch it with a small intake manifold.

What you want me to believe (I don’t and neither do you but to maintain your profession of the contrarian of contrarians here on FABO) is that the same engine with the oversized ports and small intake manifold would make more power, better power than if the engine was built with the correct sized ports in the head and a matching manifold.

Only a moron would set out to build something like that. Would you build a 273 with W8 heads and then cobble an Air Gap on it to make it half assed run? No, no one would. Yet that is the exact example of the BBC scenario that Morgan referenced. In fact, go back and listen carefully he says it’s not the best way to do it.

Just letting you know that you make me laugh as well as why & where. That’s what they are there for.

If your actually ready to have a insult free (you started that one and I haven’t ramped up any) & adult conversation, let me know. I’ll see about digging up and out some part for pictures and yet again state where I’m at Hopefully crystal clear so I don’t have to sit here shaking my head at the low Reading comprehension level you obviously are displaying.

As of right now, I’m going out to dinner with family.

Look at that difference in port sizes......Wow even the the height is lower on the shitmaster.

Look at that massive intrusion in the plenum......Could they have not picked a shittier manifold to compare the Airgap to?

Wait......And it was only 10 HP down at max cfm demand (5600 RPM) with 340 cubic inches.........

LOL. Are you scared to post up all the specs? It’s more likely you don’t know and you are just tooting a horn that isn’t even yours, which is exactly what you did about the 302 heads. You had no example of your own and you posted **** from other people.

Post up the specs if you have them.

Whoops! There goes Nancy crying again spitting out favorable words again that totally help everything!
Way to go!

I’d love to see some examples of the garbage port work you do. You should be embarrassed. But you aren’t.
Ill never be embarrassed. I own what I do. It’s never a problem. Why it is for you I don’t know.
But what would showing my port work really do?
Do I need to show the port work to prove I actually understand simple words and concepts?

Start a thread on BBC’s and we can talk about that. I this thread it’s about MoPars.
That’s what I said earlier. It was brought back up briefly because some people said it wouldn’t fly.

Don’t bother dude. You can’t have a reasonable conversation because you aren’t willing to learn.

What is crystal clear is you THINK getting the intake smaller than the head is a horsepower maker. You couldn’t be more wrong.

So save your useless pictures and anything else you think supports your position.

That’s just it. It doesn’t fly. It’s wrong (speaking of the BBC example). It was done because they were trying to fix a issue with a big, slow, lazy port.

No half assed, semi competent engine builder purposefully builds an engine with ports that are far too big for the application.

Once you get your slow mind around that you may start learning something.

Said another way is in simple words because some have comprehension issues, you don’t ever build an engine with HUGE ports and the crutch it with a small manifold. It will be down on power by a wide margin compared to the same engine with the correctly sized ports and intake.

Arguing otherwise is just moronic, so I expect you to keep arguing for wrong engine building.

Streetmaster to Airgap

I stand corrected it was 16hp not 10hp as I earlier stated. Must have got that mixed up with the Airgap to Performer swap that only lost a 10th.

Don’t bother dude. You can’t have a reasonable conversation because you aren’t willing to learn.
Totally willing to learn but you can’t teach, refuse to teach and you have a lack of reading comprehension. You don’t want to listen. As well as admit your wrong even after Darin told you so.

So who is really the rucked up one here?
It ain’t me.

What is crystal clear is you THINK getting the intake smaller than the head is a horsepower maker. You couldn’t be more wrong.
That’s incorrect. Until Darin said in some cases.
Further proof you can not Comprehend what you read.

So save your useless pictures and anything else you think supports your position.

So, even though you show videos supporting your position as valid, then ignore the video that supports what you think I said but incorrectly still yet assume I think is but now not valid and now that I’m ready to show you exactly what your missing and assuming very wrongly you say don’t bother?

Yep! Afraid to be shown wrong.

No worries! I’ll take that as and accept your surrender and current mine correction to yourself as being wrong in the areas described above.

It’s OK. I understand. It’s not easy thinking your always right and some old guy shows up with limited experience in your eyes and thoughts and straightens your *** out.

I under your butt hurt. It’s not easy being middle aged.

I’ll be back later to tear your post downs be apart for being stupid and wrong as well as chock full of assumptions.

Is that why that shitty street master intake with its tiny plenum and tiny ports only lost 10 Hp to the airgap at 5600 RPM?
What you don't understand is on a more potent combo it could have been a 50 HP loss.
Everything is combo related, everything.

I’ll be back later to tear your post downs be apart for being stupid and wrong as well as chock full of assumptions.

LOL. I made no assumptions I gave you facts. You a so delusional you can’t see the difference.

There is a reason why you don’t build engines for a living. You’d be sleeping under a bridge in a cardboard box.

I went back and looked through the article he posted. The way it’s laid out on the web page is horrible.

Of course, I asked Hysteric for the specs of the build like maybe he actually built something. He evidently doesn’t build anything but a file of magazine articles.
