I have been seeing it almost daily on Facebook and racing websites with guys bashing businesses over late parts or no responses. I know of three basically one man or woman shops that the owners are fighting health issues with some in terrible condition. Most of them can’t help parts delivery but if they are in the hospital fighting for their life they have bigger issues than you. Before you bash ask nicely if anyone has heard anything from ??????????

Agreed. Good reminder. I recently posted a response to a member looking for some parts when I found out there would be a lengthy delay. Might have been the B list.

As an entrepreneur here in Canada the same manufacturer back orders are a plague. Gone are the days when a customer could request a part and it would be in my shop either the same day or at the latest the next day. Reality now is we have back orders with no ETA even suggested. Therefore, please do not take out your frustration on either the entrepreneur or their wholesalers as this will reduce everyone’s stress levels. Thank you.

Local Wal-mart ran out of banana's yesterday and couldn't say when they would have more.Backlogs are common now days. Shipping rates are getting crazy too!

Where I work we have more orders than we can fill. Supply chain and not being able to fill headcount is hurting us. So it's everyone who is hurting but I feel the most for small companies. A metal shop I work with said their customers are placing large blanket orders to get a lower cost of materials to prevent cost increase on future PO's and get parts before the supply drys up. A major chip MFG told us they are going to triage certain chips for medical and military use only and are out over 54 weeks for a component we need. I doubt it will get better any time soon. Its going to take years to recover from inflation, greed, and COVID.

Now imagine a one man or woman business, and there are many. They could be in a hospital, sick at home, or possibly even dead. And if still breathing it’s still not always possible to make or answer calls or texts.

Sure, but if he is still able to take orders, and payment on them, it becomes a different story

Change can require sacrifice.

As for businesses not being able to deliver, that is waaaaay deeper than the business or the truck. The product could be sitting in a boat.
I was discussing 24 bolt battery charger boosters today with a supplier. Unavailable. It’s been months already I’ve been trying to get one. It will likely be months before they show up. Simple things like plastic manufacturing plants in Texas freezing and losing material to it has cost production for many items in many industries. It is not as simple as simple thinks it is.
Oil and filters are becoming a problem. Shell will just turn down your order. No backorder. Canceled. These are big suppliers I’m referring to. The little guy depends on them and you depend on the little guy......and gal! :)

Watch the politics, guys.
We all have read threads posted by some rarely seen member...."ACB Parts ripped me off!"
The complaining member often has some unrealistic expectation and cries to the forum about it like a disgruntled Karen bitches about wanting to speak to the manager.
I LOVE seeing those guys get smashed by other members. They often slink back into the shadows are rarely post again!

As a one man operation (not auto related) I can say it is a challenge right now. Some supply chains have almost dried up completely.

I've been developing an ignition system and getting the parts I need has been difficult. One key component, a simple transistor, is showing a 56 week lead time! I had to scour the web to find the quantity I needed. Sadly, looks like I won't be building any more for at least a year unless the world changes for the better suddenly.

That said, I don't take money for anything I don't have in hand and can deliver in a timely manner.

Some of the supply chain issues originate with the raw materials, some with the manufacturers, and some with shipping. All of them can be related to workforce disruptions in one form or another, thanks to the covid "pandemic". I ordered a set of headers last May or June for my Bronco, and after multiple delays I just cancelled the order, I placed no blame on anyone, I just decided to go without them.

I worry all the time when I see quantities at vendors getting low. Had many inquiries about battery cables and the Battery lug was out of stock for 8 months in a popular gauge across 5 vendors. I had a chance to grab the last 10-20 and passed as the restock date was 30 days out and I had 2 left. Turned into 8 months!

Then you can't go trying to put your eye out working on stuff. Luckily most folks are chill with delays when you are up front with them. Communication...

Communication is the big thing but now in some cases (health or sickness) that’s sometimes impossible so before bashing do a little research. We are blessed to have some great support businesses. At times I’ve tried to go the extra mile to meet who I’m dealing with. One carb manufacture I deal with did some horse trading, a carb and cash for an Indy Tunnelram. He told me to get a shipping quote and I said hey if you let me your your machine shop I’ll deliver it myself. He laughed snd said it’s just a small shop but if you want to look around come on out. So I took a 600 mile road trip. Lol. I enjoyed it and met a few of the guys.

Sorry CudaChick1968 I edited my post to include women too.

Your chivalry is appreciated <hug> but I'm too Old School to get offended. :D

After a couple years of this, it seems a lot of places are simply using covid as an excuse not to do much, and to put too much off into the unknown future by shifting the blame to others ("I don't know when we'll get any ______ in and no one at their place answers my requests so I'm not even going to waste my time to try").

One customer has been waiting on me to finish two simple plate aluminum pieces for custom sign backers for his Air Force buddies, gifts that should have been done and delivered for Christmas. My supplier had my order for Air Force Blue since early October ... but its supplier has had difficulties getting the raw materials ... so we've all had to wait.

I'm just glad that more and more folks are finally getting to the point where they'd rather live than hide. I just wonder how long it's going to take to suppress the New Laziness Gene that's apparently infected a great portion of the workforce.

Ya'll stay healthy, safe and sane out there! #UnitedWeStand!!!!

And now canadian truckers refuse to work

This is not true in any aspect of any reality. It is a select number of idiots that have banded together.
In plain terms the US put a vaccine requirement on truck drivers. Canada followed suit to stop transmissions. A number of cry babies dont realize that Canada has no say what the American government does.
Now the people (extremists) jumped on a band wagon and literally rode to Ottawa to demand things to stop. Reality. The provinces are the ones with mandates but these idiots are still too stupid to realize how stupid they are. They are trying to do the same insurrextion as the Americans did in Washington.

Boy some people aren’t happy till they ruin every post. Some of you guys need some therapy.

I used to be able to get some jobs done in a day - it now takes a week; if it used to take a week, it now takes a month. I used to be able to call the person who was to complete the task - now I have to leave a voicemail or send an email to get them to call me - and wait days because they're now working from home and don't have direct access to the info I need. The world has changed, and this old dog is getting tired of having to learn new tricks, but I'll keep trying...
