I guess I need to install a rev limiter. After some very mild changes over the winter, we went out for a stroll to see how it would respond. Well, from about a 20 mph roll I nailed it and the tires broke loose and it was on 7,000 RPM's before I could hit 2nd gear. NOT what I want to be doing with a stock 200,000 mile short block Magnum.
WHO is selling the latest/greatest of quality and ease of installation these days ?? Thanks for real life experience in advance :)

I know some tachs like some Autometer have them
Thanks for the reply. Technology changes so quickly, and I just wanted to know if there is something out there that works and isn't going to get into the 2nd section of my wallet :D Oh, Stock Chrysler Ignition ('80 Dodge D150)

Exactly. The instructions didn’t have any other venue/route to take in hooking it up.
Somewhere, that additional add on is picking up the tach singnal. You’ll need to (IMHO) contact one of our electrical ignition experts.

I think (very honestly) that it very well maybe possible. But I don’t have wiring Schematics to rove my eyes through to see if it is.

Now I’m not saying that this is possible but it COULD be as simple as hooking that item up to the coil to get a signal. Sometimes it is that easy, sometimes it’s a sure way to cry the new component.

Maybe it could.. we'll see if one of the electrical gurus, or even better yet someone that did it will chime in.

FBO ignition box has a rev limiter or put a 2x4 under the throttle.

If you feeling froggy swap to a Pertronix III HEI, it too has a rev limiter.

Remove the outer valve springs on your Speedmasters and no way it'll hit 7k.
Just kidding buddy :)
I'm using an Accel 300+ that has a selectable rev limiter that works awesome, if you could find one used I think you'd be happy with it. They are pretty ancient by now though.

Great suggestion, and I am considering the FBO. Just seeing if there isn't any cheapster - tricksters out there with a 30 dollar deal ! LOL

i can't even do that... !!!!! This motor has the hughes spring kit ! :BangHead: LOL

Msd 8728 soft touch rev limiter. Spliced it into the kids mopar dizzy. Worked fine.

That what my dad and I ordered, pricey but you notice a difference right away.
I like real-life testimonies. Thanks! I thought I'd just linger a bit to see if a cheap-skate like me will show up and offer a 30 buck solution.. LOL

About $200 but since you asked,
Made in USA, new old stock:
300plus ThunderSport Ignition System Accel 49311 fits Acura 1994-1999 | eBay
This one isn't the universal kit so you may have to extend some wires, but it probably still can do 4-6-8 cylinders. You'd have to ask the vendor. Selectable rev limiter for every 250rpm from 4500 to 12000. Very smooth "intelligent" or so they say rev limiter. No backfires or bangs.

The FBO box is plug and play for Mopar electronic ign. You will need a 1.5 ohm coil, by pass the ballast resistor. Made in America, well, the box is.
