Hey everyone,

I'm a car guy that's recently discovered the charm of old Mopars.

Long story short, my 15 year old son decided he wanted a Duster and here we are. I don't want to give away all the details as I'd like to document it in a build thread, but here's his 1973 Duster. It's a 318 car that had a slant six installed at some point. He purchased it from the second owner (owned since 1975, parked sometime around 2010).

We've owned the car since April, and recently took our first drive in it. I'm looking forward to sharing stories and learning from all of you.

Welcome to FABO, looks to be in great shape, it's going to be a very nice project car.

Nice looking Duster, I personally like it with the Torq Thrust wheels on it. It's also refreshing to see a young gun interested in old Mopars.

Very Cool! Whereabouts in SoCal are you? I'm in SD.

Thank you! It a really solid foundation to start with.

Thank you. I’m a big steelies/hubcaps guy myself, but I agree, it does look good on the Torq Thrust as well. It is interesting to me that he was drawn to Mopar as we’ve never had one in the family. Although, I do have some Mopar buddies, and I think the Roadkill Crop Duster had some influence in him. Lol

I actually have them listed on Craigslist and OfferUp and was planning to post them on here. I’ll send you a DM with the specs.

welcome and love the duster. I really love the 65 nova, I see it is a hardtop, is it a SS. I had a Maroon 65 SS for years, it was passed down from my dad he bought it in 1967.

Thanks for the welcome! The Nova isn't an SS, but it's had a 327 since 2000-2001.

Welcome to FABO!
You just missed our Inland Mopars Car Club annual "Mopars In May" car show in Ontario on May 15th. There are currently four videos from our show on You Tube. Take a look.

Thanks for the welcome! I'll be sure to check it out.

What is the size and back space on those torq thrust? And whats the tire size? They look good but i cant find 15x7 with 4.5 backspace to put on the front with my 255/60r15

What is the size and back space on those torq thrust? And whats the tire size? They look good but i cant find 15x7 with 4.5 backspace to put on the front with my 255/60r15

These are the specs on the torq thrust.
Front - 15x4.5 w/ 2.125” backspace & 215/70R15
Rear - 15x8 w/ 4.5” backspace & 255/60R15

The torq thrust were used as a mock up and we’re currently running a 15x7 w/3” backspace and a 255/60. That required trimming the fender lip about an inch.

If my calculations are correct a 15x8 w/ 3.5" backspace with a 255/60 would basically fit the same with less sidewall bulge.

You can see the 15x8 w/ 4.5" backspace is sucked in too much.

Here are some photos with the 15x7 police car wheels with a 255/60. They have 4.25" backspace, but we're running a 1.25" rear spacing making them 3" backspace.
