Somewhat related to naval battles, they just publicly announced a Hessian mass grave uncovered at Ft Mercer.
Remains of Revolutionary War soldiers killed in 1777 found in N.J. field

These guys were almost certainly killed in the land assault, and from what I understand were buried in the abandoned outer works. I think right about where they got mowed down, but need to check on that.

if you believe the British accounts and not the scientific stuff that has come out since that disproves the British actually sank the Bismarck (an expedition a few years back found that no British shells or tornadoes penetrated the Bismarcks hull. They found blast holes from the inside out and on the main water valves, basically the Germans scuttled her after her guns were knocked out. )

Yup. I've seen the movie and read some of the articles. The evidence kinda speaks for itself doesn't it? But you know what they say. The victor usually writes the history. The Brits probably needed the morale boost anyway.

A number of mysteries in the northern campaign region... remains in basements etc. Interesting

That's not the same story with the Japanese Battleship Yamato. We blew that ***** all to pieces. lol

That and not like the Bismarck was gonna take out literally the entire Royal Navy. 88:1 British battleships and destroyers , plus an aircraft carrier versus the Bismarck.

There’s homes and barns in the NE with hidden cellars and stuff still coming out. There was an article a while back in Upstate New York, couple bought an old farmstead -and under the old Grainery, they fell into a cache of rusty muskets dating to the American Revolution

Actually, head to head, the Germans had the better and stronger navy and had a much higher kill ratio. They were just outnumbered en masse. If Hitler had just waited 6 years to start WW2, the German Navy would have been larger and better equipped than the British and well, WW2 likely would have a different tone and story too it. But thankfully for man kind, the egotistical clown didn’t wait

I must admit, I’ve had a fascination with Battleships since I was 7 years old and first heard Johnny Hortons Sink the Bismarck. I actually was working on joining the Navy until I found out they’d retired all actual Battleships a few years before I turned of age. Sucks

No real mystery here. What do you do with over 400 bodies? Yea dump in the places already dug and not being used for defense.
Are you thinking of Baylor's Dragons? I think it was 6 bodies found in tanning vats after doggedly persuing a local story about that having been done.

Well we were talking about the age of sail.
And the HMS Augusta blew sky high during the battles for Ft Mercer and Mifflin.
The explosion was heard 20 miles inland (at Washington's HQ) and beyond.

Depends on who you read. Some say over 29k, some say around 22k. Either way it's DEEP. I imagine there's a lot of room for error trying to get an accurate depth, even with our modern alien technology stuff. Send a guy down with a tape measure, maybe?
