Did they make 5x4” axles for 8 3/4 rear ends?

-
hey , this dana was delivered ready to mount too , and we ended up pulling it a part to fit all the screw ups . they even had the rims mounted and they were sitting up against the drums . and the center on the rims was not even on the center hub . don't leave anything to guess work . sounds like your builder doesn't know chrysler stuff , educate him . everyone can get schooled or you don't want to be screwed .

Thanks guys! I knew something was fishy. He was gonna charge me $250 to redrill the lugs. Bunch of bullshit. I got him to replace them. Really appreciate the help! I learn something every day here! :thankyou:

Craziest statement I ever heard.
I'm assuming you are including yourself in this statement ?
And if you’re just trying to be a dick, I definitely include myself in that statement. Never worked on a mopar before. I’m assuming you never ran a 30 man commercial plumbing crew either. Not a mechanic, never claimed to be one

Brought my axles back this morning. They also had 1/2” lugs, lol. The guy finally admitted he ordered the wrong ones and agreed to replace them. One more Dragon Slain! Let’s see what pops up next!

That's easy...next he'll try to put a posi in it

Well, he's not very smart if he thinks all you have to do is redrill the LBP axles to small bolt pattern

The standoff is different for each axle set. So you'll have a brake drum/backing plate issue.

Plus, the center register diameter.

He's a knucklehead and doesn't know chrysler rear axles.

Ask smarter people that know chryslers... There are plenty in SoCal.

Yeah, I think the guy is just not a Chrysler guy. He ordered the axles with 1/2” lugs too. I showed him one of my wheels and a lug nut. Then he finally believed me. What do I know, right? Anyway, new axles are in the way

Contact Moser Engineering, They have the proper hub size and offset for the brakes on there axles. When I bought my Moser axles for the 70 A body 8 3/4 housing with 10 inch drum brakes that was in my 66 Dart, Moser new exactly what I needed and even offered to drill both bolt patterns in them at no extra cost. Then I switched to a Dana 60 out of a 3/4 ton truck with a 30 spline Dana powerlock suregrip and 4.10 gears narrowed to the exact length of the A body 8 3/4. They sent me a set of axles for the Dana cut and drill exactly like the 8 3/4 axles so I didn't have to change out my wheel and tire combo. I run Wilwood brake on the front and drilled the rear 10 inch drums for the 4.5 inch bolt pattern, but if I ever wanted to switch it back to stock wheels the 4 inch pattern is there. I have a combined 20 years on these Moser axles(14 years with the Dana) with hundreds of 5000 rpm clutch drops with 9" slicks and 1.50 60 foots(second gear is shifted about 50 feet out) and the Moser axle are showing no signs of wear in the splines or twist in the axles lengths.

Wow !!! No need for foul language bud. Totally unnecessary and uncalled for.
I was referring to your statement on nobody in SoCal knows a thing. SoCal is a hot bed of anything classic car wise. You just picked the wrong guy. Add another dude to the ignore list.

To be clear, I asked an honest question. I’ve gotten a lot of good advice. Never said anything about anyone. You can at me with attitude and I responded. Please go away

You did insult anyone that has a bit of mopar knowledge in SoCal... there is that. LOL

I don't care, but nobody knows anything... really?

As I used to say to people that would say crap to me.

Been called worse, by much better.

All good and just messing around.

I agree with you 100%. I’m speaking of my personal experience. My car sat in one shop for 4 months before the guy finally admitted he didn’t know how to work on Mopars. I’ve been overcharged, lied to, had parts messed up that I had to replace. If I could find an honest mechanic I’d be delighted. As of now I’ve been very overcharged and very disappointed. San Diego is not the best place to find guys to work on classic cars. That’s all I was saying. San Diego is to Mopars as The Beach Boys are to Surfing. They sing a lot of ****, but only one of them ever surfed

Been here since 06 rookie nut swinger. You should go away. :icon_fU:
