Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good day guys. Reading like Debbie Downer here lately but... Wife went back to Urgent Care yesterday for more x-rays. She has developed pneumonia in upper quadrant of both lungs. For days she has held her right side and boob as she tried to cough up congestion. Today she can cough the stuff up and spit it out so thats improvement.
Shes out of work until next Monday. Her supervisor is surely disappointed since he's the only person there that can run her job. All he could say is "get well soon".

Prayers.

Good afternoon.

So I find myself in a brief dilemma. I had accepted a position last week that gets me out of this current hell hole. That position is essentially identical to the one I’m leaving. IE drafting and design work.

I mentioned last week I’d received a competing offer but that offer was way less money despite being in a project manager role, which is what I want long term.
Well I turned that offer down. Then yesterday, that company’s head HR lady called me, we spoke for nearly two hours, today she’s sent me an offer that matches and in some areas exceeds, my first offer from the other company.

So now, I’m torn, stick with my original since I already accepted or take the latest which is ultimately where I want my career to go

Yes get well soon. There is a lot of respiratory junk going around so far this season. I started out with a tickle and some sinus draining last Wednesday. I still have symptoms but things have changed to sneezing and runny nose. I hope it is on it's way out. Oh ya. Lots of coughing and hacking up goop. (TMI, Sorry)

I guess two things

1. What is the burned-bridge blowback if you turn off the initial offer?
2. I've gotten into the mode of "Better, not just different", so is # 2 truly "better"?

Big picture, take your career where you want to go otherwise you'll kick yourself down the road.

Tried wheel on back, guess im threading my nuts…i am happy. Im wondering if i could buy wheel nuts from a toyota sienna or something. A couple hours saved if they would work.
Those are very similar to the wheels that I had on my 1960 Corvette. I approve
they were free.well, i traded some work for them.

I'm contemplating a pellet stove. I have a zero clearance gas insert downstairs in the den. Thinking of swapping it for some form of wood burner/ pellet
We loved our pellet stove in Fargo. I was very reluctant to purchase one at first as I had no experience with them. As so often is true Jodi was totally right. That thing kept us warm in Fargo and was basically zero maint other than cleaning crumbs every week or so, but it ran non stop during winter. Fill the hopper with pellets and set the thermostat and walk away. We did learn the premium pellets were the way to go. Cheap pellets ain’t good and good pellets ain’t cheap!

@krazykuda what do you know about the Harvey, 159th street area of Chicago?

Not far from me...

It can get rough down there at times, but not all of the time...

There's a great bbq place down there named Hog Wild...

If you need to go there, let me know... I can go with you....

Yup, two pellet stoves running here. One in shop, one in house. Shop i run hot during the day,off at night 1/2 a bag per day. House is on low, around 1 bag per day. I buy 180 bags for the year.

Yes, #2 is a much more alignment of my skill and personality than option 1.

As for burned bridge blow back, slim to none. While in the same type of industry, the odds of a paths crossing again are rather slim as the types of work done by each company is totally different
