I couldn’t even start to imagine

My R3 block and assembly was 7500.00 for block, heads, intake, cam and lifters. I sold the Schubeck lifters and bought EDM lifters so that almost saved me enough to buy a Milidon oil pan

My current 408 cost me around 5200.00 and the both ran 5.98 so I’m pretty much satisfied with those dollar amounts spent. But it does help being able to do a lot of things yourself.

or a big wedge capable of handling/ producing 900+ hp
8-9 grand for a capable block, Indy. lol
The KB Hemi block I have here at the moment was about 10 grand.
It's a funny life I have, one day I'm working on stuff worth tens of thousands of dollars, and yesterday I was putting some overhauled heads on a friends Kawasaki powered ride on mower.

My timing was about prefect when I ordered my Keith Black block back around 2008. The company went to heck and pricing went crazy. I think it took 6-7 months at most to get it and each was a special order made to spec.

Yeah, this is one of the new gen blocks, if you want to call them that. Took about a year to get, because at the time they were just getting ready to make them and I had to get in line.

If you had to build your old Duster engine "today" from scratch I bet it would not be far behind.
Not sure what his combo was, but if I had to replace my duster 340 engine, built as is, Source in the old Parts sourcing new parts and doing machine work I'd probably be close to 10 grand in it.... it's INSANE. Screw inflation!

I always adjusted my income for inflation weather I worked for myself or someone else.
It was nice when I got to that point in my life.

Hey, I like that idea! You know I have noticed everyone else is raising their prices by about 20% even the local Taco Stand guy jumped up on the burritos from 10 bucks to 12 bucks.... I guess that means once we get done moving and I start this ad campaign I'm going to have to come out of the gate a little bit higher?

Probably need a stout trans behind it too?
Was just thinking that. 3 pedal setup would be interesting. It's a killer piece but realistically you need 60K of disposable income for it because you really need a stock parts if things go wild and I don't see this not needing a lot of attention. Would be neat in an old PS car or Truck if you have the Bank roll for it....

Yeah Man, a Stout 18 spline Hemi box, or, if they even Make a Bulletproof 5 spd.. .

You're talking Liberty here. Five speed like the Pro Stocks run. Keep the RPM up in every gear. Would be hella fun to drive.

I looked into it and it's not very expensive. From the research that I've done the main expense is the pistons and if you want a blue printed carburetor for pure stock drag racing. Some guys dyno tune, some don't. Otherwise it's not much different than a stock rebuild. There was certain machine procedure's that you can't do but I don't remember what they were. I forgot what it cost to have a engine blueprinted, most of that you can do yourself. Crankshaft has to be factory stock so it can't have the crank throws index and equalized, no aftermarket rods or cylinder heads.

Nothing is expensive if you don’t care if you are competitive.

If you want to be competitive it cost MONEY.

Look at "STOCK" eliminator. Those guys spend **** loads going slow. Now, don't get me wrong. They are pretty dang quick for using "stock" parts. If you spent that kind of money on an engine with less rules, it would damn near put you on the moon.

My friend has a R3 W8 small block with Holley EFI and a pro charger…probably cost at least 50k…and he does all the assembly…
