Someone's stirring up the Bees Nest about "you" doing the work at Self-checkouts

I agree with you about the shopping carts. I think that companies are using to much technology. I heard the other day that a major restaurant chain is cutting back on waitress and replacing them with a computer at the tables, that's a job cut
Some these jobs need to be cut, companies are tired of dealing with moronic and disrespectful employees and so am I .
Thus I do most of my shopping via online for pickup.

I'm seeing things come true... I don't know if you've noticed but could you see how many presidents and kings that were Pro US that got whacked in 2020? How about the massive riots over elections in several different countries in the last year
The same things have been going on since humanoids harnesed fire.

Look through history there are always times where you can point to things that are dooms day and then we move on.

Some day a comet or the like will strike earth and most animals and humans will die, but something will survive and the cycle will start over again.

"The plan" lol
The only plan is greed, from the richest person on the planet, to the guy buying overseas knockoffs, and killing manufacturing in his own country
Lots of finger pointing, and zero self reflection.
I'll agree with the most part that Baker, but on a Lite(r) note, just cruise to the world economic forums website and see what they've got planned for the entirety of the human race. Self checkout? just part of the early phases! It's about conditioning the masses... also a lot of stuff that's happened in the last few years and a lot of stuff they've done has been scrubbed from the internet already you can't find it, even though it WAS in the news before... conspiracy theory? Brother Baker if all the arrows Point One Direction that's one hell of a coincidence ain't it?

You know honestly, customer service has gone to ****, and it's just not young kids ( some of the young kids are way better than some of the older people, I usually see them at family business, Publix or Chick-fil-A ,,you know somewhere where there's a Christian Background, or some pride for this country,, and respect for your own job, AND the Company YA work for! Most All the workers in those places, have respect for their customers, and have manners. I'm not disagreeing with you at all.

Yes, our buttons are easy to push. Just tell us it's cheaper, more convenient, safer, easier on our lifestyle and we simply fall in line, without a thought to how it's all being achieved.

Hey man that's a very positive way of thinking I like that! Now, can you tell me what happened to the dinosaurs, Sir? Hey you know I'm only kidding man but that is a great topic I guess

That is a management problem.

All bad customer service starts at the managerial level.

If the manager is supervising thier staff they can weed out the bad apples, or train them better.

And of the managers are not doing their job their director is the problem all the way up.

If it gets to the executive level the company is not going to last long.

You know that's pretty good analogy man! And unfortunately it's the truth, too many sheep will fall in line, and too many people refuse to think for themselves or question things. Just do as you're told

I kind of got to agree with that! My girlfriend is a manager, for a national restaurant chain, for the most part, most people are okay, but there's a few of them with attitudes. The problem is, they're damn good at what they do, and upper management really doesn't want to take the axe to them. Now mind you, it's only been a few she's mentioned in about six stores.... but I agree; if you got somebody that's not happy to be there, you know the squeaky wheel doesn't always get greased,, the squeaky wheel gets replaced!

Edited for clarity

I went to the gas station on Monday, put $40 in the car and tried to pay with a $50 note. The guy didn't even have $10 change, because most people are using digital payment, and by the end of the day they have virtually zero cash in the till.

And if you complain about it, they think you're some sort of retard because you still use cash. lol

See, I think that's the conditioning part of these self checkouts, which only one or two accept cash (out of like 20 of them) in the bigger stores.. years ago I did a bunch of metal framing and drywall work on a super Walmart, 280,000 square feet... they literally have about 30 self checkouts there, I think only 2 take cash... I've had a bunch of places in the last year that won't touch a 50 or 100 sometimes... once you move to a cashless Society, the people become under the thumb of the central banks

Not the job itself but the people who are a problem.
Yeah I've seen a few of them man I just quit going out to eat I grab takeout from local small businesses...to hell with it
If they want to save money, then they need to let go some of the management

Right or I tell you a friend of mine owns a few restaurants man I remodel a couple of them for him he likes to " keep his house small" as he calls it. So he'll have a manager, an assistant manager, a couple drivers, and a couple core crew members and he'll give them a bunch of hours, man he doesn't need 30 or 40 people not knowing what they're doing, floating around screwing the game up.. his delivery driver's average about 700 bucks a week

Yep, totally agree. You will be married your bank, paying them for the privilege to access your own money. You'll be boxed in.
Not to mention, you won't be able to buy a used plant pot from a garage sale without paying tax on the purchase. Then the banks will close branches, because they already have your money and don't have to coerce you in person to deposit it with them.
All in the name of convenience for you.

People are relying too much on convenience, if we would ever lose our electricity, we won't be able to function. I'm a cash person. Everyone thinks that these debit cards are so wonderful and they wonder why someone hacks into their account.

I order parts online and pick them up ready to go at the local Napa.
I actually had someone order a starter, even though it was from freaking Advance, I got it for about 45 bucks less then I would have paid for it if I'd walked in the store. And it was an in-stock item, they paid for it, I walked in, but they used a card and bought it online.

I've been screaming that for years what's going to happen if people can't use their ATM card to get a gallon of milk for their 2-year-old your average soccer mom and office dweller is going to be freaking the hell out! They won't be able to deal with it

Well Said Brother!

But people keep on banking online and having their bills debit from their accounts

You know that's funny you say that when I was with Regions Bank I could have a couple Grand to the bank say if I got up to see if a customer's check hit at like 4:30 in the morning I'd be negative thousands of dollars what they do is buy and sell future stocks and commodities with your freaking money in the middle of the night! I **** you not! I asked my local branch about that after it happened to me not but once but twice after I she didn't have the first time I made a point to keep on checking and it's not just regions it does it it's a bunch of other Banks probably every freaking one of them...

Boy, I hope the t man realizes we are actually having a general discussion and this isn't really anything silly we're just being realistic....

The more we rely on the digital system, the more frequent the hacks will become.
The day you can't access your Iphone because of a "Ransomware" attack, will be the day people will work out how they have been taken for a ride.

Yeah man you're absolutely right you know actually people here ( I imagine y'all have it there), they can just wave their damn phone up by the card reader and that'll automatically pay right out of their account, but what's the cell phones aren't green enough for all the citizens I'll probably just want to put the chip in your hand....
