I am thinking of building my own exhaust. For those of you who made there own how did you hold the pipes together when you put them up to see the fitment ?
This, then cut two windows in it at the pipe joint to allow a tack weld.Wide band clamps.

And duct tape. And a Sharpie to mark the orientation to the next section of pipe.
Hey Wayeno. The way I did it isn’t exactly pretty, but it has been effective and pretty cheap.I am thinking of building my own exhaust. For those of you who made there own how did you hold the pipes together when you put them up to see the fitment ?

To be clear.. the entire exh is loose fit to ensure they fit over the rear axle and don't point in different directions like nipples on some big sloppy tittiesI've never done it but I've read about it and one piece of advise I thought was a good idea was to do the "over the axle" part first.
Tack them with a mig welder / use jack stands ....I am thinking of building my own exhaust. For those of you who made there own how did you hold the pipes together when you put them up to see the fitment ?

I found blue painters tape works best for me. It doesn't leave glue on the pipes and it's easy to use as long as your pipes have a very slight flare on one side, should be on the exit side for flow reasons. Although I've used magnets before also. You'll need to experiment and see what works for you. If you do use tape, don't tack weld the pipes with it on.
