NHL Playoffs 2023

-
Had to fire up the Google machine for more info...Norm Green was also part owner of Atlanta/Calgary flames but NHL forced him to sell his share.
Moving a team like that wouldnt fly nowadays.

This is what I think of Dallas Stars. I'm not blaming Dallas. I'm blaming Norm Green that snuck the MN Northstars out of town to avoid legal and personal troubles. Dallas quickly realized the snake and just bought out that low rent turd Norm Green.

But then I had to watch same Dallas Stars eliminate Wild from 2022/23 playoffs intentions?

WHERE ARE THE HANSON BROTHERS!!!!!

Yeah. The NHL commission is not as owner protective as once. Actually none are the major sports sanctioning bodies are.

But still a sore spot in Minnesota.

...and the second year franchise Kracken take out the defending champ Avs.

Quite the upset round this year.

For the record, I did shout "Yanni Gourde" at the screen before P3.

(He did get assists on both goals, though)

Note-

Both Verhaghe and Gourde are former TBL.

At the grocery getting batteries for their RC cars and shopping for tinfoil!

Was a real physical series between the Avs and Kraken.
I think that Eberie should had been suspended for game 7 after breaking Cogliano's neck in game 6.
Man, the Kraken have a lot of depth and speed. Probably the worst team the Avs could have faced in the playoffs. Just like the B's. The Cats had their number all year.
Anywho, congrats to the Kraken.
Now like some of rest of you I trying to decide who to root for. I like the Leafs. To bad they have that ******* Tik-Tok on their helmets.

Speaking of endorsements-

what's with the "milk" on the Leaf's sweaters?

Well since all my Teams are all on the golf course, I get to choose a new one. Please submit your donation of bourbon or beer to my home address and I will throw my undying support and loyalty behind your team for at least one series. I will talk smack and rant about the officiating on your team’s behalf for an additional bottle of at least 12 year old scotch. Hah!

Soooooo.... Every Team YOU support.... is OUT of the Playoffs....

Hmmmmm

I have an alternative thought

I'm thinking extortion here John.

The 60 win curse. Montreal was the first to win 60 in a season and won the cup that year. Since then Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Boston have all won 60 or more games and failed to win the cup that year.

Having lived on the Red River (the border between ND and Minn) I cannot tell you how many times the Wild teased me and broke my heart!
Yup. They adopted the NorthStars business plan. And we are supposed to be the "State of Hockey?" Someone needs to tell NHL that? Lol.

For playoff hockey there are 3 things take teams deep:
Goaltending, Goaltending and Goaltending!
Yep, Seattle’s goaltending was amazing. My Avs just couldn’t get it done. My Avs power play was dismal as well.

But the college hockey? Holy crap! It is lights out great hockey! The ND College Hockey arena in Grand Forks puts many NHL facilities to shame!
College is a different story. You know it's badass when State colleges can compete. MN State (Mankato) Bemidji, St. Cloud, (probably shouldn't have gone down this road. Too many that deserves recognition.) Let alone UMD and UMN.

Funny thing about that, so I had just moved there from West Coast. I sign up for rec league and they put me In third league down from top. I am thinking WTF? Director says you dominate we will move you up, I figure fair enough. First game of season, sitting on the wood in the locker room, brand new Team, everybody is taping up and looking at each other wondering what kind of Team we will have. Trying to figure out who has beer in their bag. I notice I am easily twenty years older than my line mates. And clearly the only one with any semblance of body fat. I am thinking to myself rut ro. I listen to the chatter as they all know each other. They are all Div 1 A college kids on break playing rec league hockey. We hit the ice and by the second rush my hands are on my knees I cannot get any air and I am far enough behind the play it comes back my way before I can even get to the bench to die. Holy smokes can they play. There is something like thirty indoor rinks in town and countless out door ones. Just the overall quality level of general hockey is nuts. The leagues above us were mostly comprised of X NHL guys who are in the area as coaches. When the Penguins won the Cup a time or two here a few years ago the Cup always came to town, it was a madhouse at the rink. Sorry I got long winded but folks got no idea of the level of hockey there. It is phenomenal.

Revenge for Grubauer. He is a top notch goalie that stumbled last year a bit.
Kraken were very smart to grab him up. They play an exceptional team game. The dark horse in these playoffs, if a 100+ point team can be a dark horse.
Rangers look cooked.

Yep, Gru was insane, maybe because it was against his old team. He didn't play that well three years ago for sure. I really thought we would take him in game 7.
