1966/'69 A100 Twins Build

My guy, I can bring a trailer load of parts to him, he always says $40 I always come back with, that is too cheap and give him extra.

One time I had him do a rail-road conductor stand it was most likely from around WWII, it was heavily coated with multi-layers of paint.
I also said powder coat it, since I planned on actually using it.
He called me said, it was done, come get it, but he was not going to be there.
I asked how much did I owe him, he said nothing, free its sitting on his roll back.
Ever since then, whatever price he gives me, I just hand him 2X.

If I had a guy like that I would never abuse my compressor again!

I still have sand coming up in my yard from blasting my Duster 10 years ago, never again.
The guys at the cement place where I would buy my media, would laugh at me loading 500 lbs of blasting media, in my Jeep Wrangler.
Poor old Jeep was sagging bad leaving their place.

I can get through a car typically with 5-6 bags of coal slag and 2-3 bags of Starblast. The SPI guys convinced me to try crushed glass. It only lasts 1-2 time through the gun but a cocktail of slag, Starblast and a bit of crushed glass will cut through most anything very fast.

I was just getting ready to ask you what Starblast was.
How much does it run?

Starblast™ and Starblast™ XL Blasting Abrasives.

It is about the same as other media BUT it comes in a bag about half the size... marketing... about $20 at my local auto paint supply store. The coal slag is around $12 and the glass was around $20. I just sweep it up, screen it and keep adding in a bit of new material once it starts breaking down.

Damn, slag is $5 here for 50 lbs.

A bag that has been ground to the size you want.
Slag is a result of being burnt and run thru a coal furnace, power plants give the stuff away, it what the state road dumps on the roads for traction in the winter.
You can also buy black beauties which is just ground coal for the same price, but it makes a lot of bad dust to breath.

He is a truly good dude, he owns the business, my granddaughter normally goes with me to his place, her and his old dog will romp and play.
He told me one time, when my granddaughter comes with me, his dog gets more exercise, then he will lay around for a few days.

A long day under the blasting hood. A few hours tomorrow and the cab will be blasted. I’ll wait for it to be on the rotisserie for the bottom. After that a day or two of metal work and I’ll be shooting some oxide red Southern Polyurethanes Inc. epoxy. I have always wanted to use the oxide red and it seems these trucks came from the factory with that as the base primer!

That is gonna cost me a blister or two. Razor blade scraper, heat gun and a propane torch makes quick work of getting 95% of the paint off. Best part is it’s relatively quiet and dust free. Now the blasting will go quick and reduce the chances of warping the panels.

Did you get front seats with either truck Jim? If so, could you please post a couple of pictures underneath?
Looking at the Service Manual, it appears wrong with the view given and how the tracks are mounted.

I am trying to fit original style front seats, and it is a bit confusing just now.
Thanks.

You and me both. Have seats but no tracks. One truck does not have the welded on brackets on the wheel hump. It has a couple of captured nuts. No idea WHAT that had for seats. Took these the other on a Van. I have also seen what looks like ball posts on the back so you could pop them and tip the seat forward easily. All confusing

I have similar tracks to this picture...

For the driver side.....except there are ball studs on the rear of each rail.

I had welded brackets (from factory) on the wheel housings. Currently have seats modified to suit the brackets exactly as it was setup when I got the truck. The drawing I have in the manual shows the brackets going across the front edge as shown in this picture...

I'll post some pics of what I have shortly. Maybe we can sort this out together.
I have a nice set of seats now, but the fixing is getting a bit confusing.

So somewhere I saw a photo of the ball studs and the weld on bracket had sort of a spring steel retainer that the ball popped into.. I don't know how it worked on the "U" bracket side.

That would be cool if you find that picture .....might help solve a mystery.

My memory is that the tracks on an A100 van is like Jim's green seats, and they used a pin with an attached ring and a hairpin clip retainer. Maybe the pickup is different so the seats can fold forward?

Mine came with Pins with multiple holes and an R clip on each of the 4 corners..

I only changed to bolts for security under our ridiculous government rules. The feeling was that R clips are not secure for seats.

I now use the pins with R clips on the back brackets only - bolts on the front.

Actually it is because I have Covid damn it... Feel like crap. For an Az vehicle this is bad.. the other one is much better.
Don't let that **** get to pneumonia! And as far as the a100 this is the biggest and best place for all things Mopar I've ever seen I couldn't think of a better place for you to post that thing!

First thing that hit me after seeing your video was can I make a rag top like the Dodge Dakota truck did there's. Good luck and thank you for sharing, subscribed to your YouTube
We had a Convertible Ram Charger, soft top! That thing was insane, the little 318 we put in it was just unreal. Petty Blue!
