Stop in for a cup of coffee

Working on the ihc/blazer, no sparks. First off, hood stuck, followed with dead battery. Bead blasting an intake mannifold in the meantime. Same customer. Found an edelbrock streetmaster 318 intake. Identical to the one that was given to me. He paid $150. I didnt.

Need to make a whiteboard for the studebaker project, i like to make a list of needs and wants.
Then pick the smaller or cheaper parts. Gives me direction as well as motivation.

One time use? Prior stretched would be my guess.
Supposed to be reusable.

But here’s the latest problem, Mopar/Chrysler no longer supports this engine.

Meaning I have to go to Cummins directly, which is a pita. And they may not have them in stock themselves

Decided to go aftermarket. Ordered. Man that sucks paying 48 bucks after shipping but ouch I needed it.

They may have been pre-fooked
Sumptin don't look right.

like this one looks to be bent in the threaded section

On the other one, it is true that the tension occurs on the threads nearest the tip. That's why full threaded machine screws are not usually needed and just make the bolt weaker.
Was the break inside the threaded hole?
Is there big spacer or bracket?

Threads do not go right up to the cap so that is good design even though its full threaded.
The failure area looks like it may have necked down a little, and the final tear is in reverse direction.

For some reason this just popped up on youtube for me... that scene right there started my love of early b-bodies :)

Broke off in the threaded hole. And yes, it’s bent in the threaded section, looks fractured just under that bottom flange

This is the hold down that goes on top of the injector and bolts to the head.

The shouldered goes in the head first, the hold down slides between the flanges.

The green circle is where the full threaded bolt goes.

The red circle, slides between the flanges of the shouldered bolt.

Both are too be torqued to 89 inch pounds in steps of 45 &44.

Two eskimos were out in a kayak when they started to get cold... They took their wooden paddles and built a fire to warm up... Eventually the fire burnt through the bottom of the kayak and it sunk...

The moral of the story is you can't have your kayak and heat it too...

Killed em today running the trotline for the crabs. Caught two bushels in under 3 hours. A lot of really big ones, over 8 in wide tip to tip. There you go Karl..... The smaller ones are in the other bushel. But that one got filled up by the end of our runs. Two bushels and 3 hours is pretty good crabbing.
