No, @Newbomb Turk is absolutely correct- that is a W2 intake that has been redrilled to a standard LA pattern- I can only imagine the port alignment issues with the oval port intake on rectangular port heads...

ive always wondered why it was redrilled this makes sense. the car ran good with this intake though

well is this w2 intake worth good money or not because i cant use it and when car had this on it it was only idling because the engine needed new seals as it leaked a lot of oil

I'd say it's worth scrap price now. Looks like a blind man ported it. Those were oval intake ports that have been ported to rectangle. Nothing wrong with that, but they did a very poor job from the looks of it.

so could it be used with j heads then and why would someone do this and not just buy a new intake or find a factory one

No, it needs to be used with square ported W2 heads.

Just because it has square ports doesn’t mean it’s correct for any head other than a W2 heads.

Weiand makes their manifolds to be port matched depending on you heads. flip your intake over and share pictures of the ports. They cast for small ports (273 - 318) with plenty of material for big ports (340 - 360) Buy a set of 340 intake gaskets and lay them over the ports aligned to the bolt holes when you take the picture and we can see how much you need to do.

The absolute best street dual plane intake for SBM is the rpm air gap. On ~260hp 340 I’d imagine it would pick up around 10hp and 5-10lb/ft or so over the Weiand. Also I’d personally throw the 600 eldlebrock carb in the trash and run a Holley 3310 750vs but that’s just me. Only you can decide if the cost of those things is worth the difference in power. If your current combination is not perfectly tuned then there is probably more power hidden in the tune up then swapping out parts.

Not a fan of the Weiand stealth manifold as the runners vary in size and that leads to distribution and AFR variations.

Find an old Performer manifold for cheap and use that. If you can't pick one up then look for a Performer RPM.

i have a holley 750 it just needs to be rebuilt ill proboly do that soon then put it on in the summer. and ill look out for the airgap they are a little expensive new but if i see a good used one ill buy it

im wanting to put a cam in around summer but for now if im not changing the intake it should probably not come off. but when i do the cam ill check it

Since you say this is a street car with occasional forays to the track, a dual plane manifold like the one you have on it offers better low end throttle response (where the fun is on the street). The dual plane manifold is split in two (see divider under carb) and each half feeds 4 cylinders. A single plane manifold has one big hole under the carb (Torker is an example) and it feeds all 8 cylinders. Single planes are more effective at higher RPMs and less responsive at the lower RPMs that you usually drive on the street - that's why they are preferred by drag racers who keep the RPMs up all the time, and dual planes preferred on street cars.

With the price of gas you could use the cast iron 2 barrel intake off a 71 318...( I'm wondering when they will become valuable I have one I'm ready to turn in at the scrap yard ) I think you'll see it one day someone saying they are looking to run a BBD on a 340... if Unclke Tony sells it someone will buy ...LOL!

I’d never try to weld it up and make it oval again but I’d weld it up enough to square it back up properly.

It’s certainly salvageable as a square port manifold but not as an oval port.

Absolutely true. IMO, the Weiand is one of the best "non air gap" types of dual planes.

So would that have been Phil Weiand's response to the LD340? The stealth (which is just a carryover of an older numbered intake) is a look alike and has the same port dimensions as an LD4B.
